Chapter 85 - Leaving

Lin Qiong's tone was very relaxed and Fu Xingyun carefully examined his face but couldn't see any trace of sadness.

It seemed like divorce, as mentioned by Lin Qiong, was as casual and ordinary as deciding what to eat.

The man stood in place, staring at Lin Qiong for a long time. "What did you say?"

Lin Qiong looked at him and repeated, "Let's get a divorce."

Saying this, he took out his salary card from his pocket. "I'll treat you."

The man took a deep breath, his sharp eyebrows furrowed, his face darkened as if covered in soot. His tall and upright figure seemed like a human wall.

"Why the divorce?"

The man's voice remained flat, his tone cold and intimidating, his hand clenched at his side.

He had prepared for this before Lin Qiong came back.

He quickly skimmed through those three books, and now there was still a small note with a confession in the left pocket of his pants. He deeply knew that he shouldn't have kept the fact that his leg was healed from Lin Qiong.

But that promise, "Once you're better, we'll get a divorce," was undoubtedly a kind of invisible pressure.

It felt like a thousand pounds weighing on his chest, making it hard to breathe.

After talking to Qin Heng, he realized how unfair it was for Lin Qiong.

But Lin Qiong claimed to love him, and his actions during their time together showed affection for him. Now he also had fallen in love with Lin Qiong. Since they both had feelings for each other, why get divorced?

Fu Xingyun directly asked what he was thinking, "Why do you want a divorce?"

Lin Qiong touched his head, a subconscious gesture when he was conflicted. "We agreed on this before, didn't we? Once you're better, we'll get a divorce."

He didn't know why the other was angry. He had clearly mentioned this on the day of their marriage, and in their daily life, he always brought it up. He hadn't seen the other so angry before.

"Not divorcing."

Lin Qiong thought he misheard. "What?"

The man's face remained stern. "We are not getting a divorce."

"Why?" Lin Qiong approached hurriedly and grabbed the man's arm. "Didn't we agree on this from the beginning?"

Fu Xingyun couldn't provide a reason. He simply repeated, "We are not getting a divorce."

Lin Qiong looked at him with puzzled eyes, seemingly feeling deceived, as if he had lost five million. "You have to give me a reason."

After a moment of embarrassment, Fu Xingyun finally managed to say, "I'm sick."

Lin Qiong: "..."

For a moment, the meaning of this statement was unclear.

Seeing Lin Qiong not rebutting, Fu Xingyun continued, "I'm still not well, so I can't get a divorce."

If he didn't agree to divorce, that meant no money, and so he wouldn't be able to live a good life!!!

Lin Qiong became emotional. "Your legs are healed. We agreed that once you're better, we'll get a divorce."

"You didn't explain it clearly back then. I didn't know, so the previous promise doesn't count."

For a moment, Lin Qiong widened his eyes, not believing that Fu Xingyun had such thick skin.

There wasn't even a trace of guilt for breaking the promise.

Fu Xingyun was not like this before.

At the beginning of their marriage, when he entered the room, the other party would hesitate for a long time, with a thin face but a resolute demeanor.

"So, you're refusing to get a divorce now?"

The man was decisive, "Yes."

Lin Qiong instantly felt his vision darken. The divorce outcome he had imagined, breaking through the door and sprinting down the absurd path, now seemed impossible.

But he couldn't continue staying by the other's side. If he stayed longer, the miserable plot might unfold involving him.

"No."

Fu Xingyun frowned, "Why?"

"Because I'm a person who keeps promises." Lin Qiong pointed at himself, "A standard of discipline, a moral pioneer."

Fu Xingyun spoke, "You can disregard those in front of me."

Lin Qiong was surprised, "How could that be? It is to be strict with oneself and lenient towards others."

"Do you follow it?"

Proudly, Lin Qiong nodded, "Of course."

"Then fulfill the latter part now, be lenient towards me, and don't get a divorce."

"..."

He hadn't expected to be trapped like this.

Lin Qiong frowned, pointing and gesturing at the person, "This is not right. You should also be strict with yourself and lenient towards others."

Speaking, he pointed back and forth, "Let's both follow the latter part, offset each other."

Fu Xingyun looked down at the person, "What if I don't do it?"

"Then you're being too stubborn!"

"..."

Lin Qiong blurted it out without thinking, and only realized what he had said to the person after it was out. He shrunk his neck for a moment, glanced at the person discreetly, and quickly explained, "I didn't mean that. What I meant is, it's not good to say things like that."

As he spoke, he gently patted the person's arm as a soothing gesture.

Lin Qiong suddenly felt his legs go weak for a moment and pulled Fu Xingyun, suggesting they sit for a while.

The man looked at him, "Go where?"

"I'm tired. Let's sit for a while." As if afraid the person wouldn't agree and they would be standing there forever, Lin Qiong continued to gently shake the person's arm while suggesting.

The repeated shaking directly reached the person's heart. His eyes couldn't move away from Lin Qiong.

Since the other wanted to sit for a while, it indicated there was still room for negotiation between them.

Being led by Lin Qiong, Fu Xingyun was seated on the sofa. Lin Qiong's little mouth began to talk, "Look, your legs are better now. You can go wherever you want without needing my help."

Fu Xingyun's initially relaxed expression stiffened, "I don't want to hear about this."

"I'm just reasoning with you."

"After reasoning, do you want a divorce?"

Lin Qiong nodded.

Fu Xingyun took a deep breath, "Lin Qiong, I have something to tell you. Can you consider whether you want a divorce after I finish?"

Seeing the sincere look in his eyes, Lin Qiong felt a bit awkward. This couldn't be some top-secret information he was about to reveal, and he wouldn't silence him for good if he heard the news, right?

Their fair fingers intertwined, and Lin Qiong looked at his fingertips, still contemplating. In the next moment, his shoulder was tightly gripped by the man.

"Lin Qiong." The man compelled him to look into his eyes, his tone sincere, "I like you."

Lin Qiong was stunned, "Huh?"

"I like you." Fu Xingyun repeated.

"Although our marriage was a mess from the beginning, not based in love, and even my attitude towards you was very indifferent, all of this is not your fault, it's my own problem," he took a deep breath, "But now I like you, Lin Qiong. I like having you by my side every day, talking to me, doing things I've never done before."

"The reason I didn't tell you about my leg getting better is not because I intended to hide it from you. I was afraid you would divorce me if I told you. I was afraid that mentioning it would make you want to separate from me. Now I can't be without you. I love you, and I hope that every day in the future, we can be together. Our marriage won't be as chaotic as before. We have feelings for each other."

Fu Xingyun knew that Lin Qiong had feelings for him. When they got married, the other had said it was because of love, and their subsequent life reflected that. It couldn't be fake.

Fu Xingyun looked at him, "I've said it all. So, what's your answer now?"

Lin Qiong chuckled, "Divorce."

Fu Xingyun:!

This was unexpected!!!

"Why do you still want a divorce?"

Lin Qiong: "No reason, I just want it."

"But now we have love."

"Love can't fill your stomach."

"...So, are you saying you don't need my love?"

Lin Qiong hesitated, lowering his head, "I prefered you being a bit indifferent to me."

Fu Xingyun: "..."

Great.

"But don't worry, we'll still be friends after the divorce. I'll come to see you often," Lin Qiong said, speaking insincerely. As soon as they divorced, he planned to take the money and leave.

Fu Xingyun didn't understand why the other insisted on getting a divorce. "Are you still angry because I didn't tell you about my legs getting better?"

Lin Qiong shook his head. To be honest, he did feel a bit aggrieved on the day he found out about the man's healed legs, but thinking about it, he realized he didn't have much ground to stand on. He married Fu Xingyun for the money, not out of emotional reasons, so he had no right to be upset.

"No," Lin Qiong shook his head and smiled, "I don't care anymore. I'm genuinely happy that your legs are better."

Looking at the man, he continued, "The rehabilitation process must have been tough for you."

Presumably, the months when he was running the promotional campaign were when the man's leg gradually improved. He needed medication to control his mental state, and the rehabilitation process could be described as a physical and mental challenge.

Lin Qiong couldn't imagine how Fu Xingyun fell and broke down time and time again, but fortunately, the final result was good.

"I won't get a divorce."

The man's cold and indifferent voice echoed, "I advise you to dispel this idea as soon as possible."

Lin Qiong suddenly raised his head and looked at the man, "You're not keeping your word!"

Fu Xingyun: "I never said I wanted a divorce."

"You agreed to it back then."

"I don't remember."

Great, just great.

Lin Qiong suddenly stood up, but his hand was firmly held by the man, "Then we'll live separately for six months and get a divorce. I'll go pack my bags now."

However, the man's grip was strong, pulling Lin Qiong back after just one step.

"I don't agree."

Lin Qiong also became anxious, "Then I won't agree if we don't divorce!"

Fu Xingyun held onto the other's wrist tightly, his rationality gradually disappearing from his mind. His tone unintentionally became pressuring, "I've said it before, we won't get a divorce, and you shouldn't expect to leave."

The man directly took Lin Qiong upstairs, shutting him in his room and changing the password of the front door lock. After that, he locked himself in the study.

The door suddenly opened, and Lin Qiong hurriedly rushed out, but there was no one outside.

From the nearby study came a loud noise, one after another, shaking Lin Qiong's heart. He knew that Fu Xingyun was throwing things.

Holding a suitcase, Lin Qiong quickly went downstairs. However, when he tried to go out, he found that the door had been locked and the password changed.

Lin Qiong: !

Fu Xingyun stood in the messy study, gradually calming his emotions. In his heart, he knew the door was locked, and Lin Qiong couldn't escape now.

Afterward, he opened the door to check on the other person. When he found the room empty, he went downstairs. As soon as he reached the living room, he felt a breeze.

Turning his head, he saw the white curtains fluttering, and the floor-to-ceiling window wide open.
