The dense jungle was deceptive in its serenity, with a soft chorus of insects and distant calls of unknown creatures painting a soundscape of primal wonder. But as the trio delved deeper, a gnawing discomfort crept into Johan's senses.
'Why aren't they attacking?' he pondered, carefully observing the creatures as they moved. From small reptiles to massive herbivores, every single one of them darted away at their approach, their eyes filled with something Johan hadn't expected – recognition, perhaps even fear.
"Danny, Ken, have you noticed?" he finally voiced out, needing to know he wasn't the only one feeling the shift.
Danny nodded, a puzzled expression on his face. "It's as if they know of us. But how? We've never been here before."
Ken, squinting through the dense undergrowth, trying to catch a glimpse of a retreating animal, murmured, "It's like they've been warned."
