The soft chirping of bird rang in his ears beyond the open window. The soft gentle breeze slowly caressing his cheeks. The faint sizzling of cooked food and its salivating aroma permeated through the wooden room.
Haruki slowly opened his eyes and clutched his head as he groggily sat up. He felt around as his blurry eyes prevented him from barely seeing anything. He realized that he slept on the cold wooden floor. He saw a large bed beside him. He sighed as he sat on the edge of the bed while holding his aching head.
As he sat down he saw a naked elven woman sprawled on the bed occupying most of the space as she peacefully snored. Haruki shook his head as he grabbed the kicked off blanket and covered her. He stretched his body and searched for his clothes scattered all over the room.
After changing back into his clothes he shook Rhistel by the shoulders. "Hey, I'm going to the adventurers guild." Rhistel raised her hand and waved it without speaking as she shooed him off the room.
Haruki stretched his body as he yawned while he climbed down the stairs. He saw the miserable state of the bar from the ruckus they caused last night. He saw some adventurers still sprawled on the floor lying on their own puke. He scratched his cheeks and hurriedly helped the owner with the mess for a good hour. He apologized then went on his way towards the adventurers guild.
Before he went inside though he wore back the two rings he removed last night, back on his ring finger. He then wore the chain locked on his neck and hid it under his shirt. He asked around and finally found the Adventurers Guild after fumbling his way around the town like a lost child.
It was a large building built like a fortress. He couldn't help but whistle as he observed all sorts of people walk in and out of the building. He then opened the double wooden doors and entered inside. He saw lines of adventurers holding commission papers talking to the receptionists on each row. They were rowdy but respectful enough to not cause a disturbace.
The moment he entered he was greeted by a guard and he smiled at him, "Hello sir! Are you here for a commision or are you registering?" Haruki nodded his head, "I'm here to register as a new adventurer." The guard nodded his head and handed him a Blank form. "Please fill this up and once your done please enter through the door on your left."
Haruki was surprised he could read the words. "Magus you have an auto translator?" As he asked he stared at the paper. Surprisingly enough he could understand every word.
Haruki opened his eyes, "What's this now?"
He scratched his cheeks, "How do I put this nicely. You see when two birds have fun drinking on the same fou--"
Haruki coughed and chuckled, "Tell that to Rhist--" Before he could finish talking a strong jolt of electricity shocked him to the core. "Fuck! Magus what was that for!"
"What are you a child!? Damn, fine. I was just making conversation." He grumbled as he finished signing his form. He moved towards the room he was directed to and sat down infront of a woman with sharp eyes. Her glasses shone with intensity as she stared at his form then back to him. "Please give me your Identification. While waiting please kindly sit on the room for your interview."
Haruki nodded his head as he sat down on an empty wooden chair. Infront of him was an empty table and a simple hanging light. The room was well lit but this place reminded him of something. "Feels like I'm about to get interrogated."
He leaned back on his chair as he waited for a while while clutching his aching head. The door then opened and the same lady from earlier sat down infront of him and placed his papers on the wooden table.
She looked strict with her hair tied up behind her. Her mean glare and a permanent frown plastered on her face. However it didn't diminish her beauty not one bit. She fixed the forms he just filled up and placed a metallic object on the side. To Haruki it looked like a primitive gadget used to record stuff. He shrugged his shoulders and gestured for the woman to continue.
"State your name for the record please." She said monotonously.
"Sure, but can I also ask for yours?" Haruki chimed as he rubbed his chin. He could visibly see the woman furrow her brows as her glare increased in intensity. He scratched his cheeks and said, "Kazama Haruki. Also can I get some coffee please? Black, two sugars. This headache is killing me."
The woman clicked her tongue as she pressed a button beneath the table, "Clarisse! Two Coffees Black, and two sugars for the other one." Haruki smiled, "Thank you." The woman coughed and said, "Mr. Kazama, how would you describe yourself?"
Haruki thought to himself, "I'd like to think of myself as um... A people person." The woman raised her eyesbrows, "That's it?" Haruki shrugged his shoulders. The woman sighed, "What was your former occupation before you were displaced?"
Haruki tapped his chin, "Technically speaking I worked for an agency that does odd jobs for people. Kind of a jack of all trades. We trade in goods and or services." He said as he gave her a soft smile. "So? Freelance?"
Haruki nodded his head, "Yes! Freelance." The woman then tilted her head and stared at the bow strapped on his back. She silently pointed at it and raised her eyebrows towards Haruki. He grinned, "I was hunting uhhh... deer when I got transported here." The woman nodded her head and asked once more, "So you're from earth?" Haruki nodded his head. "Time and place?" She asked him. He furrowed his brows trying to say a place from earth anywhere. "Uhhh, Japan... at uhh, Sunrise? Year of our lord 2023. I think? I'm sorry, my head is a bit of a mess." She sighed, "It's fine. Although It would've been better if you registered yesterday along with everyone else instead of drinking yourself to sleep."
Haruki chuckled at her words, "That's a little hard for me miss, A little shocked and all." She shrugged her shoulders. "Well, as long as you don't wander off outside on your own. It's fine I guess."
"Alright that's all the questions I needed. You'll get your I.D. After your rank assessment." The woman said as she fixed her glasses and walked out of the room. "Tough nut to crack that lady." He said as he finished his coffee.
