Bethany stared bleakly out onto the city streets below her. The same hustle and bustle, the same everyday routines, the same faces. Every day was just like the last, the same grey city lights illuminating the streets below as the night began to set in. Yet she felt a sense of emptiness that lay dormant within her. She had nobody to turn to for guidance or comfort, no loved one to provide an escape from her mundane life. Until she saw him.

He was standing further down the street, illuminated by the faint yellow streetlights. His features were hidden in the shadows, but Bethany noticed something different about him. It was almost like an unspoken chemistry, steeling her courage Bethany walked towards him. As she moved closer, he turned to her and smiled.

Bethany's heart leapt, for the first time in months she felt alive, and everything else melted away. In the soft glow of the city lights she could make out his features as he looked at her with the same warmth that she felt. Suddenly the emptiness inside of her disappeared, and she knew that he was the only one she wanted to be with forever.

For weeks they spent time together discovering more about each other, and slowly falling in love. Every moment was filled with joy and laughter, and Bethany knew that he was the one she wanted to be with for the rest of her life.

But then a problem arose. It seemed that their future together was uncertain. Soon they were going to have to go their separate ways, and the prospect filled them both with sadness.

Despite her sadness, Bethany determined that she wasn't going to give him up without a fight. She dedicated the next few weeks to finding a way to be with him. She spent time researching, making phone calls, and seeking out any way that would make their dreams come true.

And then, out of the blue, hope presented itself. A job offer abroad, with enough money for them to finally be together.
