Yohana sat frozen in shock, while Henrie appeared visibly shaken. He leaned forward, gripping his hair tightly with both hands, his elbows resting on his thighs.
"He won in the end. He ended his life with his own hands. We should have done it before he did," he said as he buried his face in his palm. "We should have paraded him unclothed around the city. He should have been humiliated and tortured, and the knights should have kept better attention toward him."
Henrie groaned, losing his good judgment. He only thought about Yohana's pain and everything that she went through. He believed that keeping Ansgar in the dungeon would prevent him from escaping. But he failed to notice that there was another form of escape.
Why didn't he think about this? Why didn't he anticipate this? Ansgar was someone who was always two steps ahead of others, and he always found a way out.
