Sometime after Elisa heard the news of Sir Karl's death, Zara came with a pile of letters in her hands. She put them on the table. They were the letters that Sir Karl had sent her–the letters that Queen Emma had hidden from Elisa.
"But, Zara… if she knows that you're doing this…"
"It's fine, Your Highness. I have to be the Siegfried family's slave for five more years, Her Majesty couldn't fire me. I won't receive any money for seven years as well, so she couldn't cut my pay."
Zara's face was drenched in tears. She was clenching her skirt as she spoke. It looked as if she was trying to hold back her emotions and couldn't wipe the tears, otherwise, she would drop to the floor and wail.
"Forgive me, Your Highness. I should have given you the letters before it's too late. He deserved to read your reply."
