Chapter 439 - Dropping Hints

For the first time since the capture, Runa was let out. Her hands were tied behind her back, and her ankles were chained together to prevent her from escaping as she was transported to the capital city of Kievskaya. 

The General of the army summoned her and wished to interrogate her in his office. 

"What's your name?" he asked. Runa couldn't tell what he was thinking or feeling judging from his poker face. She hated people like this the most because it made it difficult for her to plan her next move. 

"Ramona, My Lord."

"Family name?"

"I don't have one, My Lord. I was born a commoner, and I have been an orphan as long as I could remember."

Taking the role of an orphan was a safe choice because of several things. First, the General would no longer question her about her parents. It would prevent Runa from slipping up. Second, orphans were easily bought with money and comfort. One would naturally be suspicious of orphans in the case of spies.
