Since the trap near the Dunkel Sea, Elijah became more cautious with his information. He had intercepted numerous incoming and outgoing messages from Kievskaya and West Matzovia. Since tracking Ansgar proved to be difficult, Elijah chose to draw the line from foreign land instead.
Messages from Kievskaya and West Matzovia came in various forms. Letters with disguised content–from the outside, the letters would be like every other letter. But once scrutinized properly, it contained secret messages. One must sometimes look at the paper in the dark with the help of candlelight to see the hidden words.
Sometimes, they would use small pieces of paper and write down riddles that prevented other people from deciphering the content. This one took Elijah a long time to decode. There were some riddles that he couldn't decode to this day–he had a rough idea of what the content was but didn't want to risk losing the whole war just because of his gut feeling.
