ARWAN
I hold my rib and hide behind the first piece of furniture I see. As I pull my hand away, I see the bright red blood and groan at the pain of the bullet I've just received. My fucking father just did that to me. It wasn't enough for him to take my leg. Now he wants to shoot me. I try to make as little noise as possible to avoid being spotted, trying to locate him by his footsteps.
"Arwan," he calls to me. "I have to say I'm very disappointed in you. Why didn't you just agree to come with me all along?"
I close my eyes, containing the pain. He's still a long way from me, but I can't stay here. He has the advantage of knowing the place when I only know the vague plans. I'm not really up against it, but I'm not giving up hope.
"Think of what we could have been, you and me! I would have taught you everything you need to know and we could have been stronger than ten men put together. Think of the legends we could have become!"
