EMERY
Liliana and I sprawl on the couch, a bowl of popcorn nestled between us, the TV screen casting a warm glow across the living room. The familiar soundtrack of our favourite romcom fills the air, but my mind isn't entirely focused on the film. Instead, I'm counting down the seconds until nightfall. Until I can implement my plan.
Liliana giggles at a particularly funny scene on the screen, nudging me with her elbow. "Seriously, how can you not love this film, Emery?"
I chuckle, nudging her back. "I know, I know. It's just not my go-to genre, you know?"
She rolls her eyes playfully. "You need to loosen up a little. It's good for the soul."
I smile, grateful for her presence and the distraction she provides. The truth is, I can't stop thinking about Arwan and the turmoil he's going through. My plan to help him is hatched, and I can't shake the determination to see it through, even if it means taking a risk.
