Chapter 13 - I got an overpowered skill, but still helpless.

I used to have a friend who sleepwalked, although I didn't realize it at the time. I thought it was strange that he always brought me pizza whenever I stayed up late to study. That was one of the weird things that happened to me in that dorm.

Kazu, out.

What a wonderful morning!

That is what I wanted to say. But I can't.

I might have felt refreshed after waking up, but seeing a bloody massacre around me and having no clue how it happened is too much for me. I just can't.

Blurrrghhh~ Excuse me for a second.

Blurrrghhh~ I feel like I've vomited everything I eat millennias ago.

There are also corpses of several creatures that I've never seen before. It looks like a war zone here.

Human bodies are either torn apart or thrown around.

Limbs and organs are scattered everywhere, blurghhhhh~.

There's a head, blurghhh~, oh crap, that's me!

I look around; the shirt, the pants, and that one has my underwear.

They are all me!!! What the hell?!

WAHHHHHHHHH!!!

Hick! I stumble backward, crawling, trying to get away, but my legs are like jelly. I've died many times, but I've never seen myself dead. That is me, but I'm also alive now.

What is going on?

My hand gets caught in something as I struggle to crawl backwards.

When I turn around, I see a half-ripped head staring at me.

WAHHHHHHHHHH!

I felt numb when I woke up, not because I had screamed too loud or failed to comprehend the situation. It was because a monstrous creature was gnawing at my feet, as big as an elephant and covered with scales.

A freaking monster was eating me! WAHHHHH!

Ow, shit shit shit shit.

No no no no, please.

It sensed my movement and slowly bit my skull; I couldn't do anything; where was my hand?

I heard my skull crack and then I blacked out.

I gasped as I woke up.

Heavy… something was pressing me down. I crawled back, barely lifting it. It was the huge wolf. Was it dead? Who? Who killed it?

I slowly stood up and picked up a twig. I poked the giant wolf to make sure it was indeed dead. The wolf's whole mouth was ripped, as if someone had sliced it but not neatly.

Then I remembered trying to test my resurrection in a small pool of lava. The lava disappeared, and I left a shallow dent on the ground. Did that mean that I killed the wolf?

Maybe, when it was devouring my head and I died, the resurrection kicked in and everything around me that was blocking the restoration was ignored and simply vanished?

Except for my clothes being a bit dirty, I was the same. I even looked down to see if my junior was still there.

If I didn't remember what happened, I would think it was all a dream.

I sat on a tree log, my eyes fixed on the huge dead wolf. I tried to calm myself by lowering my head.

Just breathe… breathe… I had been here before. I had been trapped, but I had overcome it. This was nothing… Breathe… Fuuuuuhhh~

When I felt a bit more relaxed, I looked around.

Apart from my remains scattered everywhere, many creatures had died in the same way as the huge wolf. However, some monsters had been killed by bites, and the bite marks were very clear.

It was now afternoon, and the day had gone by just like that.

Then I felt something watching me. I scanned the distant landscapes and noticed something moving.

I guessed I wouldn't be able to leave here without dying. They seemed to be on high alert, probably because they sensed something was wrong.

I laughed bitterly, "Ha ha ha ha ha ha." Tonight would be a big feast. But I would only be the food, not the diner.

Being surrounded by creatures while standing in the middle of a pile of corpses. Waiting for the sun to set. From a different angle, this might look quite spectacular. What a picture.

Picture? Wait, my phone…

I couldn't check what I had before because I couldn't move, but now I can. I quickly pulled out my phone from my pocket.

There it was, my phone. I had a phone in another world.

My phone was small and didn't have an LCD display. It used a semi-holographic effect, the early phase of holographic technology. Only a few of these were made because they predicted that perfect holographic technology would be ready next year. It was so slim and light that I didn't feel it in my pocket.

Should I take a selfie? Hahaha, this was ridiculous.

If my phone was always restored whenever I resurrected, I could do a lot of things with it, such as navigation. This one didn't just use satellite GPS; it also had an offline radar navigation system that could ripple back radio frequency by 1,000 square kilometers, which was probably enough to map a small city. But I had to be in a high place.

There was also music. I had downloaded a lot of offline games. I even had an e-book saved, and even though it was full of novels and had nothing to do with engineering or anything else, this was more than enough for me.

By having this phone, I could change almost everything.

A wise keyboard warrior once said that with just a phone or computer you could destroy the intangible things. Relationships.

This made me smile somehow. I forgot for a while that after the sun went down, I would either die or be eaten alive.

Let's take a souvenir of this epic moment. Maybe one day I would just laugh about this when I remembered.

Turning on the phone required a small twist. A few components would slide together to form a square, but only a thin line on the side would be visible. The welcome message would then appear on a translucent screen.

I turned on the phone eagerly when… BOOOOOOMMMM!!!

I wonder when it all started to feel wrong. All I know is today, I felt wronged.

I'm standing in a massive crater with a radius of a few kilometers. I don't know.

WAHHHHHH! Fuck you!!!!!
