Chapter 3 - Hide from the Wizards!

. "Wizards."

Koro saw a deep hatred in the eyes of the lady, but it was quickly exceeded by the fear that encompassed her whole body.

Koro saw one of the wizards doing magic, the magic had spread throughout the entire region as far as his eyes allowed him to see.

The screaming woman was restrained by the help of the magic and brought to the middle of the street. There were other magicians too, many of them, they were all carrying people; they were restrained with magic.

Koro saw peace vanish in an instant. It was replaced by terror and dread. People were screaming in fear, trying to get away from the clutches of the wizards. They didn't cared about anything in their path as the crashed into others, there were kids too who were knocked on the street.

Koro was immersed in the chaos, but the lady quickly woke him up from his stupor. She dragged him through the quiet corners of the alleys, Koro saw others too, they too were trying to hide from the assault. He saw some of them hiding in the trash bin, they had closed their eyes in an attempt that the wizard won't see them.

Koro too was dragged inside the quiet corners of a building, the light vanished. The whole of the street was immersed in darkness.

But it too, couldn't contain the madness in the eyes of the wizards. The moon shone in its full beauty, showing the dreaded faces.

Koro looked at the lady, she was trembling. She wasn't like Koro who had grown between the magicians. She was just a normal woman making a living in a normal world. Koro felt there must be a reason she was that much terrified by the wizards.

It wasn't like he didn't felt fear. Koro hadn't seen this kind of madness among the wizards, it was his first time watching them in action. The wizards had cast their magic, making light sources, to appear. A round white flowing ball that glowed in the darkness. It wasn't bright like the shine of the bulbs or fire. But it was alright. They were searching around looking for their victims. Many of them had been captured, and brought in the middle. The restraints quickly increased in numbers.

Koro looked again at the lady behind him. She had calmed down, but there was anger in her eyes. The lady saw him. She told him, gritting her teeth, "The wizards took away my child and husband."

Koro didn't know what to say to the lady. He himself was a son of the magicians.

Koro had shrank in the corner. Unless someone specifically came inside the building they would never find him.

"The leader had been getting pretty aggressive about this, don't you think?" Koro heard one of the wizards saying something.

"It is necessary, the task at hand isn't small. It requires.. WHO'S THERE" the voice was near him. He thought he had been found out. Koro saw the lady looking at the air in plead. She was pleading to some god.

The footsteps of the wizard boots came nearer and nearer. Sweat dripped from his brows, he was stopping his impulse from him screaming.

Thud Thud

He could hear it, but it quickly started running and walking in another direction.

A scream rang out. Someone hiding had been discovered.

The wizard grabbed the hairs of the person. The person tried everything to get away from the wizard, but he couldn't. A sharp slap from the wizard sent him tumbling the other way. He tried to get up but it was a forfeited effort. The wizard followed behind, casting the magic through his finger tips.

The person quickly found his body twisting without him meaning to do anything. His hands were tied behind his back. Terror gripped his eyes. "Please leave me." There was a sincere plea in the eyes of the young man, but it was denied by the wizard.

Without sparing another glance at the person, the wizard dragged him up till the middle of the square. The other restraints huddled close to each other. When they saw another wizard coming with a person, they shrank back, as if trying to get away from the wizard.

The man was quickly thrown by the wizard among those people. The terror was too great for Koro, all he could do was see it all happening through the small opening that smelled rusty in that old building.

Koro could feel the musty smell in the air. The building had many hiding places. If he could only place the lady and himself without making a noise. Scrutinizing among the myriad things, the dark didn't make it any better.

There were two planks huddled together, behind the barrels. If he could get behind the barrel along with the lady he could hide from them until they left.

"Not enough, we need more of them. " One of the wizards had a little different clothes from the rest. The wizard was quickly issuing orders. The other wizards didn't dare to question him, as they sped up finding the others. He was the leader of the wizards.

The leader wasn't calm himself. He was constantly moving up and down the street, though he was not searching for the people, but he was constantly looking through the dark spots, in the wake that he could find another of them.

The other wizards had sped up their process. They didn't care about the place, and destroyed it as they saw fit. The once good street didn't look at all like a street. With stuff destroyed here and there. The wizards seem reluctant to destroy the buildings for some reason. But all together. The search was going great for them.

Some of them, when found out, tried to struggle fighting against the wizard. But the wizards gained the upper hand against those too. Cursing and spitting the other person was brought into the middle. One of them was a bald man, his face looking at the wizards with ferocity.

"You cowards, try to fight me without magic, if you dare. Bloody butchers you aren't nothing without your magic. Wait till The Sword Holders, learn about you people, then we will see who is on the ground." the bald man spat viciously. The leader of the wizards grabbed his neck at an instant pinning him on the ground. The ground crack beneath the bald man.

His head cracked. The wizard removed his hands from the neck. The person laid there, his eyes wide open. A quick pool of blood formed where his head had been.

The leader of the wizards looked at the person. Now he wasn't talking anymore was he. He smiled. Maggots who don't know their place. He looked at others.

The other people trembled under his gaze.

Koro had seen it. The fear was consuming his sanity. He wanted to hide from them, hide quickly.

The lady regained her sanity watching the scene. They weren't someone she or the others could take on. She had to hide the boy.

Koro had started rummaging through the debris to make way, but he didn't have strength in his body and neither could he make noise. But it had been made easier, with the wizards trying to look for the others. The lady had come to help him. Her strength made it much easier to move things.

But they had to hurry, the wizards could come here at any instant.

Taking another one of the barrels out of the way, Koro found himself facing two big planks.

The two of them quickly found themselves in stupor. Try as they might they both weren't able to budge the planks. Not when the wood had settled itself from old age. And trying harder only made more creaking noises.

More and more people were getting discovered as the search had turned vicious in the way. The magic barreled through the structures and objects, and didn't give a liberty for the people to get away unscathed. Many of those were faced with despair as wizards quickly led them towards the crowd.

"Kid, you should hide in there, see if you fit in there." the lady's voice was hushed. They weren't able to open the gap for the two of them. So the lady instructed him to hide inside.

"What about you?" Koro was overwhelmed, if he decided to hide away, what about the woman. If they found her before she found a way? What would happen to her?

"Don't worry about me kid, I will find a way," The lady pushed him. Koro looked at the gap, it wasn't big. He tried to force his body, the friction from the woods, created many cuts on his body, but he didn't stop.

"Hurry," the destruction was heading their way, the sound getting nearer each second.

Between the muffled groans, Koro was finally inside the gap. The gap behind the planks, the walls, were just an arm's away. Koro was having difficulty adjusting himself in the gap.

Koro looked behind to see the lady quickly closing the gap behind him.

"Sorry kid," Koro saw relief as well as sadness on the lady's face. No he mouthed himself, as the lady was looking at him. But she just smiled and closed the gap.
