Marvin Grey was close to ripping his hair off.
It wasn't often that he misjudged someone completely like this. This was a new experience for him. Looking at the information on the paper in his hands, he felt as if he was completely fooled by that damn woman.
In his hand was the information that Natasha had filled out when joining the Screen Actors Guild. It had all the details about her. From her native place to her educational qualifications, everything was present on the sheet.
Seeing the information present in that sheet, he was glad that he listened to his intuition. If not, he would have been completely fooled by this woman. What a conniving bitch!?
When Marvin was leaving yesterday's party, he saw a strange scene. A black man was guiding that woman Natasha Lyons to a small car on the outside. Initially, he wanted to step in and prevent her from being cheated by this black man.
But, the moment of impulse passed and he noticed other things that he didn't notice the first time. One, both the woman and the black man were behaving very familiarly with each other.
Two, there weren't any inappropriate actions being conducted. In fact, the black man acted kind of protective and indulgent towards that woman. There wasn't any sexual behavior present despite them both being drunk.
So, Marvin suppressed his impulse and walked away.
But the scene didn't get out of his mind.
How was a woman from France this close to a black man? Did they meet at the party? That can be acceptable. But, what about the behavior of the black man? He knew this group of people well. When have they given up the chance to get laid? Almost all of them thought with their dicks.
So, it didn't make any sense.
So, in a hunch, Marvin sent a request to the Screen Actors Guild regarding Natasha Lyons's information. And lo and behold here it was. Mystery solved. This woman wasn't French at all.
She was pure American, with a French father. Born and brought up in New York. New York is definitely not in France. That he knew for sure. And she had only completed high school. And she didn't even know French. Ugh!
And to make things worse, she was a complete newbie. She had no performance experience at all. He was sure that this woman hadn't even stepped inside the drama theatre in her high school.
When he remembered her words that there were several agents soliciting her, he almost felt like vomiting blood. No agent worth his salt would solicit such a girl. They would at least look for someone with performance experience.
He knew very well what kind of agents solicited females with such profiles. Being compared to those bastards really angered Marvin. He was a respectable entertainment agent, damn it!
Not to mention her action of accepting his card and telling him that she will call in two days. What posture! What arrogance! Damn woman, you should be kneeling and begging me to sign you. When did it become your turn to choose me?
Just imagining these things made his heart bleed.
The image of an artistic temperamental goddess in his heart shattered into million pieces at that moment. He couldn't believe that he thought of her as an artistic person.
Looking at her New York address, this place was near the slums. What artistic temperament? What French beauty? All were lies he crafted himself. It made him feel embarrassed.
When did he become so complacent that a small girl was almost able to pull wool over his eyes? He was embarrassed to admit that he was fooled by the pretty face of the girl.
But, when he calmed down and went through their conversation, he realized that the girl never claimed to be from France or highly educated. She merely let him believe that without correcting it.
That took some good acting skills. And her performance was very natural as well. When he remembered how many men walked up to her and chatted with her after he left, Marvin felt a little bit of consolation in his heart. He wasn't the only one that was fooled.
Thank god for small mercies.
Still, this created a huge dilemma for him.
On one hand, Marvin felt embarrassed that he was fooled. He wanted to teach that little girl a good lesson. However, on the other hand, Marvin realized that this girl had some natural acting talent.
She not only fooled him, but she also fooled a lot of learned men with her act. That kind of talent was rare. And she didn't even slip up the entire night. Marvin remembered her drinking heavily throughout the night. How did she even maintain her act after getting drunk that much?
If not for him accidentally stumbling on the scene of her being taken care of by a black man, he wouldn't even have suspected such a thing. Just thinking about it made him want to rip his hair out.
His instincts were telling him that this girl had good potential. But, his emotions were screaming at him that this girl was a huge pit. So, he was heavily conflicted currently.
Taking a deep breath, Marvin decided that since he couldn't decide either way, it was better to solicit outside opinion. And who better to ask than Kid Z. Didn't he shoot an MV with her?
Decision made, Marvin acted fast.
"Hey Kid Z, sorry to disturb you. But, I just want to ask you one thing," Marvin didn't beat around the bush.
"Marvin, you sound a little agitated. What's up, man?"
"That girl Natasha. Natasha Lyons. What's your opinion of her?"
"Are you thinking of signing her?"
"Yes, but I am not very sure. I am of two minds. That is why I am asking you," Marvin admitted clearly.
"Then, I will only tell you this one thing. You can decide based on this."
"Fine…"
"The MV director who filmed my MV said that Natasha was a born actor. He had never seen a newcomer be so comfortable in front of camera. She only got a couple of NGs at the start. After that, it was smooth sailing," Kid Z said without hiding anything.
Marvin's brows furrowed.
"How's the response to her presence in the MV?"
"Pretty good. If you want, you can check it out as well. But, Marvin, as a friend, I am giving you this advice. Several people in the circle have noticed her. Her appearance in the MV was good. But, since we mostly deal with niggers, they haven't approached her yet. But, the situation might not last long."
"You mean someone has an eye on her?" Marvin's eyes sharpened.
"I am not tattling Marvin. But, if you want her, you should hurry before shit hits the storm," Kid Z said lowering his volume a bit.
"I understand."
"Then, goodbye Marvin," Kid Z cut the call leaving Marvin even more confused.
Marvin grit his teeth and looked the information in front of him critically. He threw away his emotions and rationally analyzed the information present before him.
If Marvin had to be objective, he couldn't deny that Natasha's profile didn't move him. Blonde hair, brown eyes, soft features, slightly taller than average height for the heroines in the industry, good body shape, and a memorable face. This was a face that can become popular if it could be operated rightly.
But, these features weren't rare in the industry. Almost half the girls that come to Los Angeles have blonde hair and brown eyes. And being taller wasn't always an advantage. Some of the heroes themselves were not tall and they wouldn't want someone taller than them to act opposite to them.
As for body shape, heh, who was he kidding? Stunners are as cheap as chips in this city. Which girl didn't have a stunning figure? The only true advantage this girl had was a memorable face.
To outsiders, this may not sound so important, but having a memorable face was very important if you want to become famous. A face that has impact and forgettable faces are completely different. No matter how good your body structure or acting is, if the audience can't remember you after walking out of the theatre, what use is it?
And there was that indescribable charm this girl had. It was what drew Marvin to notice her in the first place. This combination was good. Not very outstanding, but pretty good. If operated in the right way, then she could become a second-line heroine within a few years.
Marvin's mind began to spin. But still, he calmed himself down and threw away the paper. He was Marvin Grey. The true magician who could unearth promising newcomers.
It wasn't his turn to take the initiative. Let the girl call him. If it is fated to be, then it will be. If not, no skin off his back. There were countless youngsters waiting to sign with him. Just because he lost his last client, it didn't mean his energy was over.
"Meanwhile, let me check the MV she acted in," Marvin muttered and walked out of his office.
