Chapter 19 - Chapter Nineteen

Sword clashed against spear, and the sound of metal grinding against metal rang out in the clearing as I followed up right behind Finn, my kusarigama connected to my chains.

My feet left the ground, and I jumped on Finn's shoulder who did not even budge with his level six strength.

My weapon left my hand, wrapping around her longsword and I pulled, disconnecting the sword from the spear and Finn Took this opportunity to thrust from his position, slamming the spear into her shoulder.

I twisted and Roundhouse kicked her head. The spear in her shoulder remained still as her body went flying and a disconnected arm fell to the ground, staining the grass crimson.

I pulled the chain back with élenchos, pulling the longsword with it and thrusting it into the ground to take to Welf later.

The woman clutched at the sump that was previously her arm, trying to stop the bleeding fruitlessly.

I did not hesitate. I dashed forward, the chain going back in place and my hand gripping the handle of the Kusarigama as I closed the distance.

She jumped, her higher level providing much-needed distance from me, but she would not have it that easy. My grin widened, and Blaze flared to the challenge.

Purple fire erupted from my feet, pushing me forward. one of the kusarigama left my hand, wrapping around her abdomen. She screamed, the azure fire burning her skin as the other joined its brother, wrapping around her arm.

With a strong pull, I slammed her into the ground. Fire exploded from my feet, propelling me toward the ground. I grabbed my daggers and the enchantments glowed as I slammed into her abdomen, one piercing her shoulder and the other one right above her lung.

The ground shook and I narrowed my eyes as the ground cracked, revealing a large... Plant?

I raised my eyebrow at the monster that must be on deeper levels, mostly because there were no records past floor 58...

I took a deep breath and slammed my leg on the hand that was trying to remove the burning chains.

"Bell! They're attracted to magic!"

Finn warned and I hummed in curiosity as I let a vine wrap around my hand. That did not last long, naturally. Blaze flared, spreading to the vine, turning it to ash, aided by élenchos as I controlled the fire to spread faster. In a matter of seconds, the monster was burning, writhing on the floor as its body dissolved, leaving behind a... Golden magic stone?

Using élenchos, I floated the magic stone to me, and grabbed it out of the air, inspecting it and looking down at the woman on the ground.

"This was your... Grand plan? I bet there are more around the 18th floor..."

She glared at me, gritting her teeth in pain and I could only sigh. This was a disappointment, she was a disappointment...

All my enthusiasm died like a butterfly with its short lifespan and I stared at her blankly. Blaze died down, leaving her breathing heavily, her body burnt, a hand missing, and barely alive.

I got off of her, one of my chains wrapping around her body and keeping her suspended in the air, tied up.

"That's some interesting magic... To provide such a boost in power to rival a first-class adventurer..."

Finn muttered, looking at the woman for a moment before looking at me with a glint in his eye.

Now was I not only disappointed in this girl, I was disappointed in myself too. I got too excited after fourteen years of normalcy, and this was the result.

The consequences of my actions were never pleasant to deal with...

I just shrugged, not answering him as I started going back to town with Finn next to me.

___

I stared at the green orb that had a small, green child inside of it, feeling it out with élenchos just in case. Ais seemed to be terrified of it and the thing's eyes opened whenever she was near.

"You are telling me that there was a quest for..."

I held up the thing, raising an eyebrow at the Woman with cat ears.

"This thing to be delivered to the surface..."

She just nodded and I looked over at Riveria, the green haired elf looking deep in thought.

"What do you think this is?"

She looked over to me, her green eyes drifting to the item in my hand, before shaking her head.

"I don't know, it looks like a monster, but..."

She trailed off, looking at the thing with a conflicted look. So we had no idea what the fuck this thing was...

I sighed.

"What are the chances that the woman knows?"

Finn shrugged.

"Worth a try."

I nodded and walked over to the said unconscious woman, that has been partially healed to stop the bleeding from her arm and crouched down, narrowing my eyes at her.

This was going to be a long... Interrogation... Yes, lets call it interrogation...
