Kurai hesitantly placed the key into the lock and took a deep breath as it easily clicked into place.
He glanced at the people around him who watched the lock skeptically but given that magic was real in all sorts of shapes in this world, they knew better than to simply deny that something may happen.
He took another deep breath and slowly turned the key, but even as it reached the point where it could go no further, nothing happened.
He frowned, wondering whether they needed to look around for a door instead, but the stone suddenly came alive in his hands and floated above them with the key still in it, before slamming into the ground at his feet.
The key turned by itself once more and a symbol accented with runes burned itself into the floor under their feet before it sent out a pulse of energy in one direction, which everyone tried to follow with their eyes.
