Napoleon opened his eyes, and scanned his surroundings. Everything around him is white, he looks down at his feet and saw that the "floor" is also completely white, and so is the "sky" above him.
"Is this supposed to be purgatory?" he asked himself. To his surprise, a familiar voice answered him back.
"No, this is my home." He looked up and see the familiar face of his dear wife, Joséphine, standing right in front of him.
"Joséphine? Is that you?" He asked while running over and is about to embrace her when she once again answered him.
"I am not Joséphine, I have merely borrowed her form to appear in front of you."
"What? What are you saying? If you're not my wife, then who are you exactly? Why have you taken her shape?"
"Because If I had appeared to you in my original form, then I would have no chance but to wipe your soul from existence." She says before continuing. "I am the creator of the Universe, of all life in heaven and on Earth. I have many names, but I believe that you would know me as…."
"God." Napoleon interrupted the sentence. "But that doesn't makes any sense, why would God appear before me, what do you want of me?"
"Order need to be established on Earth, and you, Napoleon, is the only man who have ever came close to establishing order over Europe, and I pity you."
"Therefore I am giving you a second chance, I shall send you back in time for you to correct your mistakes and defeat your enemies. In turn, you must be able to establish order and unify Europe under your banner."
"But why? Why would you want to interfere with the conflicts of human? Why did you choose me?" Napoleon asked with a weary look on his face.
"Simply because the world that came after your defeat is not the world that I desired, will you take on this mission or not?"
Napoleon pondered for a moment, it seems that he has finally found an opponent that his genius brain can't understand and decipher, God himself. He was sure that just moments ago, he was on his deathbed, muttering his final words. Yet here he is now, standing before the Lord Almighty who has just make him an offer, a very good offer in fact.
"If that's the case, I shall willingly take on this mission and fulfill it to the best of my abilities, my Lord."
God, or in Napoleon's eyes, Joséphine, smiles at him and said "I will send you back to the siege of Toulon, there you will begin to rectify all your mistakes. Yet don't mistake my calm demeanor for softness, If you fail, there will be consequences."
"Yes, my Lord." Napoleon bowed his head and replied.
"Close your eyes." Napoleon did as he was told and fell into unconsciousness once again.
