Chapter 97 - 95

Bruce Wayne POV:

There was a long debate about secret identities all over the world and wether former heroes should be able to remain anonymous. Eventually it was determined that would be able to keep identity a secret depending on the severity of the crime but would be forced to report it to a specialized world government agencie (Shield). If it was a small time local hero they wouldn't likely receive the same level of protection. Fortunately Damian was a member of the Justice League through the Titans.

It wasn't a perfect solution and there was a lot of push back; especially from those from those that didn't have the League as protectors before the convergence. The world was too divided on the issue but they didn't want to risk losing the Justice League so this was the compromise that satisfied no one. The only thing that protected the League was that they couldn't be controlled by any political faction and were self funded. The lack of political control painted the League in a positive light to the public. It also didn't hurt that they saved the earth a few times over even though there hasn't been a global crisis since the convergence yet. This is also the reason why people are hesitant about the idea for the dissolution of the Justice League.

These weren't the only factors that contributed to this decision one could argue that political leaders were part of the Justice League and were only connected to the rest of the world through them. If they decided to dismantle the Justice League there was a real concern that countries like Atlantis and Themyscria might either become isolationist or outright hostile.

The former heroes weren't put on trial and instead the world governments had closed door meetings to determine the sentencing. This has been on going for weeks as the debate has become circular which has kept everything from moving forward. Most debates were wether to punish those involved or not considering the individual affected was infact alive and wether Tony Stark should be brought up on charges considering that his victims died and stayed dead. A few debated on wether they had jurisdiction considering it occurred off planet.

Unfortunately there were no simple solutions to this issue but on a positive note they had held off on collecting the identities until a concensus could be reached. Although Shield has tried to go behind everyone's back to get them they were unsuccessful as the League was taken personal action in securing the prisoners.

As for the matter regarding the newly terraformed Asteroid it was revealed that Sword would be running point. This news clearly shocked the world as no one knew that they even existed the entire time that Shield was around. The only reason why this agencie was revealed was that the incident became too big and the UN couldn't afford to ignore it or say nothing. The topic of human expansion was all over the internet and no amount of censorship could contain it this forced the government to reveal the existence of Sword.

I was surprised myself to know that there existed an agency for matters outside of earth. This was clearly an organization developed by the alternate reality as the League would have been made aware otherwise. They were too well established for them to be a brand new organization and had too many facilities existing. This would definitely require the league's undivided attention especially with the possibility of invasion on the horizon.

....

Hawkgirl POV:

This is the worst possible outcome that could have happened the League is under scrutiny and divided but an entire secret branch of government has appeared. Worse still that their very purpose is to deal with extraterrestrial threats and we have no idea what they are capable of doing. It was like they went from nonexistent to suddenly appearing out of thin air.

Speaking of appearing from nowhere the one individual who Hawkman gave his life to ensure his death is more powerful than ever. He even somehow managed to pull a literal goddess out of his ass which has strengthened the earth making it more difficult to confront. The longer he is around the more distant the idea of invasion becomes if he can't be eliminated maybe he can be recruited. If we can convince him to be a vassal with humanity as his domain would he be loyal to the Thanagarian empire?
