Chapter 83 - 81

To say that things were out of control all over the world would be an understatement. What was interesting to note locally was that bat girl, batwoman, blue bird, and even Night wing developed force powers; yet as if by some cosmic law Batman still hadn't gotten any powers. Even Jim Gordon and Alfred developed lower levels of Force sensitivity somehow Batman was a universal constant of no super powers.

While the Force was powerful there were some draw backs for masked vigilantes. Each being is unique in the Force so if someone recognized that individuals Force signature they would have an easier time identifying them. That said it is also possible to disguise oneself with the Force. If one practiced enough or had a natural talent for it one could be perceived as entirely different individuals every time you met with them without changing anything else even if saw their face.

I was essentially under house arrest not officially of course but all the same I was ordered to stay home. With nothing to do I decided to teach Miranda Lawson about the company and about the important individuals she would be dealing with on my behalf. I warned about each of them according to their level of threat they posed to me and Black Technology especially Bruce Wayne. Lady Mechanika would be acting as her bodyguard and secretary almost in the same capacity as Mercy Graves except I am her primary superior.

Miranda seemed to like the idea that I was putting humanity first even though it this wasn't her original universe. When I asked about her original universe (which I rarely did) apparently humanity was losing the war against the reapers and Shepherd and his Asari girlfriend shit the bed pretty hard. I think that there might be some bias on her part and possibly some resentment due to being left to die.

This is where things got interesting apparently the system doesn't just pull things from nothing. According to Miranda she was on a mission with Shepherd of her reality things went sideways she got separated then abandoned. Reapers forces closing in she locked herself in a vault room and was waiting for death trying to get support or figure a way out. Then her omni-tool lit up with a offer to save in exchange for her freedom.

At first she thought it was a sick joke or possibly a trap by the reapers finally she assumed that she was going insane with death approaching. With literally no better option or offer she agreed not wanting to die to gamble on the possibility that it was real. She admitted that she never would have ever suspected that she would end up in an alternate universe.

I later learned that my Tali'Zorah was betrayed by Shepherd a battle hardened woman who used her people as cannon fodder against the reapers. Not only that when Shepherd gained control of the reapers somehow she turned on everyone conquering everything attempting to enslave the galaxy. She didn't know how things ended but her people were gone so that reality could implode and she wouldn't miss it.

It was intriguing to know what was happening different universes and how individuals were selected. Unfortunately I couldn't waste all my time on the various sob stories of how they ended up in my service. I told Tali about my plans to redesign my ship as my last little adventure proved how under prepared I was for the rest of the universe. She agreed and wanted to build the ship from the ground up. I told about the lack of mass relays in this universe and offered to help provide information about alternatives.

It was very clear that I was going to be earth bound for the foreseeable future. Tali was currently patching my ship after my last trip. It was still usable for traveling around the globe and short trips in space but due to the damage it was unable to make indefinite trips. I could take it to a space dock and have it repaired but I didn't want to take the chance for an alien to rip me off or steal my ship or it's parts. It will be better to just either buy a new one through the system or wait for Tali to build a new one.
