Chapter 60 - Chapter 60: Meeting Blade

"So I have to ask. Why didn't we come here first rather than going to that club?" Yelena asked as she dragged Vanessa over.

"You didn't see how many vampires came out? We took out a huge chunk of the vampire forces within New York. Similar to how a hunter sends a dog out into the brush, the dog enters and the prey runs out of the brush to escape the dog, this gives the hunter an opportunity. Same concept, Blade went in and the vampires scurried, they walked right into us with ease." Adam explained as he prepared to port them to the abandoned steel mill that was Blade's and Whistler's base.

He was waiting for Blade to arrive at his base so that he didn't have to repeat himself explaining why he was there. Nobody enjoys wasting time.

As Yelena walked over, Deacon kept looking at Yelena, he was trying to charm her to come closer so he could bite her.

Deacon Frost had the ability to create vampiric duplicates of the victims he bites, these duplicates can then absorb the original victim into their bodies, which is how his mind control worked.

He wanted to bite Yelena to take her over as he did with Vanessa Brooks. He could tell she was powerful, not to mention she was beautiful and naturally seductive, he knew if he could gain control of her, he would have a powerful toy under his complete control.

Yelena felt Deacon's charm, she decided to play along, she began to walk over, bringing a smile to Deacon's face. Unfortunately for him as soon as Yelena got close enough, she punched him in the face.

"You bitch! You broke my nose!"

"Try that shit again and your nose won't be the only thing broken. Your lucky we need you alive." Yelena said with a smile.

Adam opened his eyes and looked between them, "Few more minutes and we can go, if you want you can beat him some more, he heals faster than other vampires. He's from the mid 1800's or so. 1850 or 1860 I believe, isn't that right Deacon?"

"Damn you old geezer!" Yelena began to pound Deacon's face, pissed off that he tried to touch her.

Adam just shook his head, closed his eyes and watch Blade driving into the abandoned steel mill.

Adam watched as Blade drove his modified black 1968 Dodge Charger, it had a custom fiberglass hood that was secured with four chrome hood pins and had a prominent hood scoop, a custom built V8 engine with a three speed automatic transmission and brushed aluminum wheels.

As Blade pulled into the base, he saw Whistler at the workstation, modifying some new armaments for Blade.

Abraham Whistler was an old vampire hunter, once a happily married man with a beautiful wife and two daughters, all that changed when a drifter came knocking.

He asked for dinner and a place to stay before he headed off again, Whistler invited the man in, a decision that would haunt him for the rest of his life. The drifter wasn't only a vampire, but a sadistic one.

The vampire tortured the family, mainly Whistler, then told him to choose the order of his families deaths. After refusing to do so, he had to watch as the vampire killed his whole family, draining them completely of their blood, then left him alive.

Since that day Whistler not only vowed vengeance on the vampire, but all vampires, he not only learned everything he could about vampires, but he began to train and design and build modified weapons to kill vampires as efficiently as possible.

He found Blade and taught him everything he knew, martial arts, swordsmanship, marksmanship, vampire lore and customs. He effectively turned Blade into a weapon against the Vampires.

"Whistler!" Blade yelled as he got out of the driver seat and exit the vehicle, walking over to the passenger side.

Seeing Whistler didn't respond and was still working he shouted louder, "Whistler!"

Blade then pulled the young black woman out of his car in a princess carry.

Whistler had stopped what he was doing finally and turned around, "Bringing home strays now?" He said as he walked over to the table Blade was laying her on

"She's been bitten." Blade said neutrally, but his mind was actually a mess.

Karen reminded him of his mother, unlike a normal baby who doesn't remember anything of their first few years of birth, Blade remebered the day of his birth vividly.

When he looked at Karen, flashes of his mother reaching out to him as she died came to his mind.

"Then you should've killed her."

"Yeah I know...but I didn't." Blade responded as he removed his sunglasses, putting them in his trenchcoat's inside chest pocket.

Whestler looked at Blade carefully, he knew there was more to it than Blade was telling him. He had raised Blade since he was a boy, he was more than a mentor to him, more like a father.

"You watch her close. She begins to turn, you finish her off...or I will." Whistler said as he turned on the lamp to begin inspecting the bite wound on her neck.

"She's borderline." Whistler said as he checked her neck and eyes. "Another hour and she'd be well into the change." He said after inspecting the rest of her body.

Blade said nothing, just watching the woman squirm weakly from not only blood loss but from the vampiric venom that was starting to affect her, causing flashes of hot and cold all over her body.

Whistler grabbed her hospital badge and looked at her name.

"Doctor Karen Jenson. Now listen close, I'm going to inject you with a mixture of garlic essence and silver nitrate, its going to hurt, A lot." Whistler said as he showed her a large syringe with a milky white substance.

"It was Quinn." Blade finally spoke up.

"Frost's little arrend boy? Did you at least get a lead on him?"

"No." Blade said frustratedly.

"Thats too bad." Whistler said in response as he finished wiping Karen's neck with a alcohol pad before injecting her.

Just as he was about to give her the shot a voice rang out.

"I can help with that."

Both Blade and Whistler instantly pulled out guns and aimed it at the direction the voice came from.

"Easy boys, no need to get hostile. As I said, I can help." Adam said as he came out around a large machine engine that was used to power the crane, his hands were raised in the air, a small white flag fluttered in one hand, he was wearing sunglasses with a smile.

"And who the fuck are you supposed to be?" Whistler growled as he cocked the shotgun in his hands, he couldn't understand how he got into their base without setting off alarms.

"I am Adam. Commander of the UNSC, I am here to offer an alliance. Don't you see the uniform?"

"Why don't you take that smirk off your face and leave before I..." Before Whistler could continue he felt a gun press to the back of his head making him go wide eyed.

"Look guy's, don't you see my white flag here? Look I just wanna talk. Why dont we all just calm down, lower our weapons and talk, you don't like what I offer, me an my associate will leave, and you can even keep my gifts. No harm no foul. You dig?" Adam said as he waved the flag a little more to make his point.

Blade tried to think of a solution, he was gauging if he was fast enough to take them both out before Whistler was shot.

Adam shook his head, "Blade, your fast but she is faster, and me..." Adam appeared right in front of Blade, Blade's gun on his forehead showing he wasn't afraid, "I am even faster than all of you. Now can we stop with the standoff? Here, I'll even show we don't mean harm. Yelena, remove the gun from Whistler's head."

"Not till Blade does the same." Yelena responded.

"That's an order. I'll be fine, Blade isn't stupid, he knows deep down he can't win. You feel it don't you?" Adam said as his smile widened further.

One of Blade's abilities was that he could sense supernatural beings, so Adam knew Blade could sense Spectre within him.

"Fine. But if either of them shoot I'll chop off their balls. You hear me?" Yelena said seriously as she lowered her gun.

"Talk. You got five minutes." Blade said as he did feel a very serious threat from Adam, which is why he didn't lower his gun.

"I only need thirty seconds. Yelena grab our gift for our friends here. Just see what I brought you. You were looking for leads right? Well look no more."

Both Blade and Whistler heard two thuds behind them, but neither dared look away from Adam.

"Come on. Ok how about this." Adam disappeared and reappeared in front of Whistler's gun, "Now you can look back, we really aren't playing any game with you. Just look."

Blade released a sigh, but when he turned around he froze. On the floor lay the man he had been hunting for years, and next to him lay the same woman from his memories.

"See. I bring you not only the target of your revenge, but also your mother who he turned all those years ago, making her into his eternal plaything. Though she looks like your mother, it really isn't, its a doppelganger that consumed and absorbed your mother and is fully under his control. So have I bought even a little trust? Cause trust is the basics of any relationship, romantic, friendship or business. They all require trust."

Blade walked over to Deacon Frost, just as Deacon was about to say something, Blade stabbed the man in the heart with a silver stake, instantly turning him into a pile of ashes.

He starred at his mother who started hissing loudly, her master was dead and now she was suffering a slow death. She was a product of Deacon's powers, so since he was no more she was slowly dieing.

Adam then looked down at Karen on the table, he then used the reality stone to conjured a mythical potion from another universe.

The only reason he could use the Reality stone to create an otherworldly object was he remembered the ingredients and brewing process.

A large 48 ounce glass bottle filled with a dark black liquid appeared in Adams hand, surprising both men. Then Adam began to recite words that none of them could understand, "Ut, quem liberum esse bibit potionem a sanguine saevit in maladictionem."

Immediately after Adam spoke the spell the black liquid turned blood red in color.

"Here use this, another gift. It will cure anyone who has recently been bitten, as long as they dont fully change into a full fledged vampire it will cure them 100% of the time. It's about 60% if they do change but dont drink human blood at all. Once they have drank human blood then its useless. Use it on your hunts, that way you wont have to kill innocent people."

Whistler hesitated but looked at Blade who had just put his mother out of her misery, when Blade gave a nod Whistler released a sigh.

"Fine. You talk we'll listen. No promises." Whistler said as he lowered the shotgun and grabbed the bottle.

After he pulled the cork and smelled it, his eyes narrowed, "Smell's like blood."

Blade however took a few steps back, "Like hell it does. What the fuck is that?"

Adam shrugged, "Like I said a cure to vampire venom. To humans it will smell like blood, but to vampires it is revolting. It purges any vampiric venom fully from the victims bloodstream and body. You don't need much, just put two drops if they are as far along as she is, a single if they were just bitten." Adam answered, as Yelena walked over next to Adam.

Whistler dipped in a dropper and dropped two into Karen's mouth. Within moments, she sat straight up and ran off to the side and began to puke.

"Thats normal. She is expelling all the venom from her system now. As you said, she was pretty close to beginning to turn. Now that the table is clear." Adam placed a portable holopad onto the table Karen was just on.

"What I offer is simple and straight forward. I will fund your operations moving forward, I will provide you both with the best tech, I can fix your leg Whistler so you can hunt better, in return you keep hunting the Purebloods."

The holopad was displaying numerous weapons and munitions, all of which were UV based.

"The best part is, they won't hurt humans. So you can set off a bomb and only vampires would be killed, no structural damage or loss of innocent lives. All humans would see is a flash of light. You will also receive a mobile base of operations."

The pad displayed a ship that could hold about fifty people within, and was equipped with labs, medical facility, workshops, everything needed to have a secure and self-sufficient base of operations.

"The ship can act as an Aerial base as well as land and sea. The only thing you would have to restock is food. It has self defense capabilities as well as offensive capabilities. Only thing it can't do is go into open space for extended periods of time."

Adam sounded like a door to door salesman as he explained the equipment one by one to the two who were shocked by everything they were seeing.

"Your willing to give us all this for nothing? I call bullshit." Whistler said, he wasn't trusting of strangers.

"Not true, as I said. The price is you continue to hunt the Purebloods. And obviously any vampires that aren't abiding by the treaty. I am going after the Claw Sect in the middle east so I need people to go after the others here. Think of yourselves as a vampire police force."

"That's it?" Blade asked seriously.

"Yup. Oh and work with the Nightstalkers, which you shouldn't have an issue with considering your daughter is already apart of them. I'm not asking you to work side by side but coordinate and allow them to gear up with you. That's it. I won't be a micro manager and tell you what to do, and I can even provide support if you find yourself in need. I have plenty of young blood looking for action under me, so if you need extra men we can provide them on call. Free of charge."

"You know what they say about things that sound too good to be true, right?" Whistler replied.

"Yea I do. That nine times out of ten it really isn't. But that's the thing, this is that tenth time. Think on it. I will leave the pad here."

"Fine. I'll agree." Blade cut Adam off.

"Perfect. Your equipment and ship will be here in the morning." Adam said with a smile.

Suddenly a woman voice yelled out, "What the hell is going on!!"

"I'll leave you two to handle that mess. Oh and please don't shoot the delivery person tomorrow." Adam said, then he and Yelena vanished, causing Karen to scream.
