As Carol and Adam fought, many eyes watched in amazement and fear, while Thor was getting excited seeing such a battle and was half way to joining in himself. He was waiting to see who to help since he didn't know either of them.
Thor had always been a battle junkie, wanting to fight the strongest and make a name for himself across the universe like his father Odin, or like his hero Zeus.
Fury's expression hardened after seeing the fight progress, he hadn't expected Adam to be this strong and he wasn't even wearing his suit.
Maria Hill and Phil Coulson, both standing at either side of Fury, watching the monitor displaying the battle. While Phil Coulson knew about Carol since he was partnered with Fury when he first met Carol Danvers, however at that time Carol went by the name Vers and had no memories of her life on Earth. The Supreme Intelligence had wiped her memories and placed her under the command of Yon-Rogg for him to train her into a weapon to fight their wars.
Phil was the only other person to know besides the Skrull, who worked directly under Fury, so Maria Hill was completely caught off guard regarding Carol's arrival, she was also a bit irritated that Fury didn't trust her enough to inform her of a major trump card but also for the fact that Fury had sent her after Adam.
Although she trusted Fury and had her own reservations regarding Adam and the UNSC, she also knew that if you let reservations alone cause you to act, you run the risk of creating an unnecessary enemy. If Adam or the UNSC had shown any signs that they had bad intentions then she agreed with a response, but to make a preemptive attack wasn't exactly the smartest choice, especially if you didn't know the extent of what they can do.
Fury wasn't the only one watching, many civilians world wide were seeing the whole event from beginning to end thanks to Adam using Eve to stream the invasion over the internet.
It showcased the UNSC soldiers as well as the UNSC Avengers in a positive manner, while showing the agents in SHIELD uniforms in a bad light. Not all SHIELD agents were bad but quite a few were HYDRA which were the ones Eve had shown.
HYDRA had ordered all agents to focus on recovering the alien technology, going so far as to beat up a couple of civilians who had a Chitauri chariot crash into their apartment and had injured their child in the process. Rather than assist they ordered them on the ground, when the parents didn't comply due to begging for help with their son, they beat them into submission while a few began to carry off the alien body and pieces of the chariot they could carry while equipment was brought in to get what couldn't be carried.
They weren't successful of course, since UNSC soldiers stepped in and put an end to these agents, assisting the injured family and getting them the help needed while also a separate team in power armors carried away everything.
With the help of Eve, the UNSC was able to locate and track every Chitauri who passed thru the portal, so locating every piece, down to the last DNA sample came easily and was accomplished quickly.
Any HYDRA agent they came across was quickly dispatched without mercy, while the good SHIELD agents were left alone or rendered unconscious if they refused to comply.
Yelena and the others watched with wonder as Adam and Carol's fight streaked across the sky. Excitement that soon they too would be augmented with the SPARTAN procedure, although they knew that they wouldn't be as strong and durable, their physical augments weren't exactly the same, they were still upgrades from what was typically given to the SPARTAN 4 during and after the war with the Covenant.
Any damage to the buildings was done by Carol since she didn't bother to take anything besides the fight into consideration, while Adam had always launched Carol up higher into the sky, and when she was hit sideways or down it was in between buildings or hitting a lake or pond.
High above New York, Adam was being pushed back by a large energy beam being fired from Carol's hands. His bio-electric field was protecting him from being damaged but the force still pushed him back, he wanted to pull out a weapon to make the fight easier but he wasn't exactly losing either.
'Is this really her full power? I really thought she would be stronger than this.' Just as Adam thought that his instincts screamed danger, tilting his torso backwards, a punch from Carol sailed over his head. Carol followed up with a drop kick fueled with her energy.
Both of her feet had a large amount of energy focused on them causing the energy to glow brighter on hef feet, as she connected, the energy added a miniature explosion which caused a bluish gold concussive energy blast to ripple thru the air. Windows in the taller buildings higher floors shattered and the buildings began to shake, Adams large figure shot to the ground like a rocket landing directly on the roof of Stark Tower.
As Adam tried to catch himself he noticed Loki as he crashed thru the roof, he was just beginning to stand up from the beat down he received by Carol earlier.
Grabbing the unsuspecting Loki as he sailed into the floor of the tower, Adam placed Loki in front of him to take the brunt of the damage.
They crashed floor by floor, creating a massive hole thru the building, luckily it had already been evacuated before the invasion started by Tony. He had ordered it once he knew that was Loki's target.
By the time Loki knew what happened they were already at the basement garage level of Stark Tower, when he saw Adam stand up with a smile as the various cuts and large gashes caused by the rebar in the concrete as well as all the objects they crashed through, healed themselves right back as if never there.
Loki wanted to curse this man to the darkest parts of the realm of Helheim, but all that came out was a long weak groan. He couldn't move a muscle he was in so much pain, he would be able to heal quickly but it would take a bit of time. Seeing the man who caused him to be in such a condition healing within seconds, made the pain even worse, even worse than the added pain from the smile this unknown man had.
Adam began to focus and condense his bio-electric field around him, using the same logic as a rail gun, he used the building as the barrel.
Lighting began to crackle and jump all around Adam's body, long tendrils of lightning bounced off him, hitting the ground and anything that attracted it. This scene shocked Loki since he only knew a handful of people able to control lightning.
Just when Carol began to fly down to claim her thought victory, Adam released the built up magnetic field and propelled forward, like a projectile fired from a rail gun. Carol tried to dodge but Adams knee came right into her face with a crunch.
Thinking it was done, he knew Carol was out like a light, his instincts screamed and in slow motion Adam saw a large hammer coming right for him. Grabbing Carol's unconscious body Adam threw her towards safety and had a thought.
'I wonder if I can use my bio-electric field to help use Thor's hammer.' So grabbing the handle, as it sailed by, at first he felt no weight as he gripped the handle, a smile formed on his face as he thought he succeeded, he felt the electricity within the hammer as he held tight to swing.
What he didn't take into consideration was he was processing time a little differently, very quickly he learned this was the case. The hammer yanked him back down into Stark tower creating an even larger hole thru Stark's building.
Adam slowly stood up, and looked over at Loki. Once again the wounds closed up and disappeared, Loki was still trying to recover from the damage earlier.
"Your brother is a real pain in the ass, but I'm sure you know that." Adam said with an exasperated smile.
Loki, still unable to speak other than a groan, just gave a small nod. The mind control he was previously under was gone due to the repeated brain damage he had received while the mind stone was not close to him any longer.
Adam looked down at the hammer his own armor was named after, 'Fine, I should've known that battle junkie wouldn't be able to hold back. I can't hold back anymore, unlike Captain Marvel, Thor can punch above his weight.'
Although Captain Marvel was strong, she had a limit. Although her power came from the space stone, it wasn't all of the space stones abilities, her powers were derived from it.
Similar to Abomination, She-Hulk and Red Hulk who were extremely powerful and got their powers from the Hulk, they didn't have the unlimited strength of the Hulk. They had a limit, sure they could get boosts in strength using anger or emotion, but so do normal people.
The Hulk had no limit on his strength, he is potentially the strongest being in the universe. Potentially, since he would have to get mad enough, which has happened various times across the multiverse.
World War Hulk, Worldbreaker Hulk and Maestro were the more well known versions of such a Hulk.
So too did Carol have such a limitation, she could get stronger but she would reach a point where her potential was used up and she reached the limit of her power. Thor does not share this flaw, his potential was limitless. Unlike Carol who was at her base a human, Thor was an Aesir.
Seeing the hammer fly back up, Adam floated up as well chasing after the hammer. Upon exiting the roof, he saw Thor grabbing his hammer then began to spin the hammer to engage.
Adam summoned his armor, within moments the liquid metal made of nanobots covered his body and formed his Mjolnir armor. Holding out his right hand, a Gravity Hammer formed in his hand, Thor's eyes widen in surprise. Not many warriors use hammers, so this was a welcome surprise.
Launching himself at Adam Thor attempted a hammer strike from above, lighting arched across the hammer's surface as it came down toward Adam.
Calmly, Adam side stepped and easily moved in close, Thor, not expecting such speed, wasn't prepared and ate a fully powered hammer strike into his chest.
His armor cracked like a spiderweb but didn't break, runic symbols flashed across the armor absorbing the impact and repaired his armor as Thor flew out towards the open waters.
Adam wasn't going to try to fight him in the city, so knowing he basically had one free hit, since he could surprise him with speed, Adam aimed Thor toward the open ocean.
Thor was hit so hard a sonic cone surrounded him as he flew through the air. Adam gave no reprieve, he accelerated at high speed after Thor. Using his magnetic ability, Adam honed in on the metal Thor's hammer was made from and used it to pull himself faster towards Thor.
Catching up, Adam swing his gravity hammer to hit Thor into the ocean to see if that would cool him off, Thor however countered and swung his hammer meeting Adam's. The impact of the two hammers caused a flash of light and then two figures flew out, one going up while the other down.
Then a horrible ringing sound was heard for miles, the ocean surface rippled from the sound wave and the shockwave that followed in the immediate area.
Thor crashed deep into the ocean before he was able to stop his fall, Adam was launched into space. His hammer was destroyed but had already repaired itself after the impact.
Uru was a magical metal, so its toughness was unrivalled. The only reason Hela was able to break it was due to her ownership over the hammer, she was connected to the hammer just as Thor was since she wielded it before Thor. Her connection was much stronger than Thor's since she had in fact grown out of the hammer long ago, she had returned it to her father due to preferring the sword.
Although his nanobots could mimic Titanium-A3 Battleplate, which was the same thing the hull of the Infinity was made out of, it just couldn't compete against Uru that had been inscribed with Asgardian runes and magic.
As Adam floated above the Earth's atmosphere his gravity hammer changed into a large caliber Gauss rifle. "Anti-material rounds." His HUD changed and began to provide telemetry data, wind speed and direction as the nanobots created the round. An image of Thor, deep in the ocean but heading up to the surface appeared on his display, aim assist activated, helping to guide his aim.
Just as Adam was about to pull the trigger, Thor had just broken the surface of the water, giving a clear line of sight, Natasha's voice came over the comms.
"Alright boss, Fury is calling SHIELD back. Tony is stopping Thor, why don't you call it a draw. There's still a lot to be done. So if you're done playing we need to get things done."
"No one would ever know, just one shot, I'm pretty sure he'll be fine. Almost positive." Adam said as he saw Thor in his scopes, he really wanted to test just how durable Thor was.
"Uh, yeah they would, you've been streaming this whole event, so everyone can see you right now with a really large gun. By the way, will our suits also be able to create weapons like that?" Natasha didn't want to ask, but Yelena was shouting the question in the background.
"Fine, Eve cut the stream. I'm on my way back. It's time Fury makes a choice, either join or retire." Cutting the comms without answering her question.
