After a few hours Adam and the team of technicians and scientists had completely modified the Variant V HAVOK into a pure EMP missile. It was modified with a dual rocket propulsion system which allowed the missile to be fired from within an atmosphere using a regular rocket launcher.
The Variant V HAVOK was a thermonuclear missile that was specialized for space, so normally it would only be fired from a ship. Due to focusing on the EMP and not going for any physical damage, they were able to reduce the size of the missile greatly while increasing the area the EMP would affect greatly.
If Adam hit the Earth with it, every electronic device worldwide would be taken out. It wouldn't matter where on Earth it exploded, the whole planet would be crippled.
Just as Adam was loading the Variant VI HAVOK, this was what they decided to name this new variant since it was unlike any of the Fifth variant series, Peggy's voice came over his comms.
"Commander, the ship's deep space scans have detected a ship travelling at high speeds. Its current heading and trajectory puts its course for Earth."
Adam was dumbfounded by this, he didn't remember anything happening like this till much later, his mind raced to think who it could be.
"How large is the ship and are there any others with it?" Adam asked as he quickly began powering up the C718 Longsword so he could be ready to launch at a moment's notice.
"Only one ship and it isn't very large, it's equivalent to the Albatross in size." Peggy answered as she sent over the information to Adam.
As soon as a visual display of the ship showed on his HUD his eyes narrowed, he knew that ship. It was Mar-Vell's ship, the one Carol Danvers took when she left the Earth.
"You know, Fury is becoming a big pain in the ass." Adam couldn't help but say aloud, he knew exactly what was going on.
"What does Nick Fury have to do with that ship?" Peggy asked out of curiosity, she had known Fury a long time and even assisted him occasionally so she knew him well.
"He didn't tell you? Typical..." Adam paused and thought to himself, 'Why does it seem like he is more like his comic counterpart rather than the movie version I wonder. Was he like that in the movies too? Wait, that's right he was. Although it doesn't really show until after Thanos, during the Skrull Invasion was when we really saw just how paranoid a person he is.'
"Don't hinder the ship, most likely she is coming for me at the behest of Fury. He probably didn't like the fact that I told him I'm taking the cube. Since I have basically turned all his trump cards to my side and he also knows that HYDRA is SHIELD I basically backed him in a corner in his view." Adam explained as he still went ahead and prepared to head to Earth, he figured she could help with the invasion and if it came to blows then he just would deal with it.
"She? And why would he feel your backing him in a corner? Hasn't he seen that you're not a threat?" Peggy asked since she had also looked into the history of the UNSC. She wasn't stupid and knew that some things may not have been the actual truth but were the winner's truth as they call it, she knew it was common practice that the winners always wrote history.
But overall the UNSC was the military might of Earth and its planetary colonies. They were human, not alien and she also knew that if Adam wanted to attack and conquer the Earth, it would be the quickest conquest in history if he wanted it to be. The technology gap was just too far. She knew because she had been learning herself, she was a dedicated and hard working woman.
She had always dealt with discrimination her whole career, she was top of her class and top agent cause she wanted to prove she was just as good as any man. This was also a reason she whole heartedly joined the UNSC, after looking thru records it didn't take long to see that the UNSC had no such discrimination, even though it was due to every UNSC soldier and staff were super soldiers so it did balance things a bit.
"Do you know of a comic book character named Batman?" Adam asked, he was aware that in the Marvel universe DC Comics existed. It was the same in the studio next door, Marvel existed as a comic book company in the DC Universe.
"I do know the character a little, I never read a comic but he has had shows on TV. Why?" Peggy asked curiously.
"Well Fury is Batman. I don't mean he dresses like a bat, although it is rather close, instead of cape and bat mask its a trenchcoat and eye patch. But hear me out. Batman has all the cool toys and tech, unlimited funding since he has Wayne Corporation. He's also a paranoid person, you see Batman had a contingency for everyone and everything. Friend or Foe it didn't matter. All just in case they turned to the Dark Side. Sounds like anyone you know?" Adam asked with a chuckle.
"To a T I can see your reference does have some credence, however wouldn't Tony Stark match up more with your description?" Peggy said with a chuckle as she watched Adams ship leave the hanger through the monitors.
"You forget Tony isn't a fighter, Batman and Fury both are mixed martial arts masters. Masters of infiltration, Tony couldn't sneak into a house of blind and deaf people even if his life depended on it" Adam replied with a chuckle as he flew to the Earth and activated the stealth function then continued, "So basically Fury called in reinforcements to try to ensure that he keeps the cube, he wants to have a contingency just in case I one day do something he doesn't agree with. He sees Loki, who is basically a god, is willing to wage war for it, so even though he doesn't know what it is exactly, he knows it's powerful enough for a god to desire. But if he thinks Captain Marvel can keep the cube from my hands he has another thing coming."
Peggy processed what Adam said for a moment and hesitantly said, "Commander, that sounded very much like how a villain would talk. Why is the cube so important? Why not let him have it just to keep the peace, you both share the same goal."
"Hahaha... Well isn't a villain just someone who goes against the norm? I have no nefarious intentions, and him keeping it isn't an option. Unlike Fury, I know exactly what the cube is, and how dangerous it is, if the galaxy found out it was here, Earth would've been swarmed by mercenaries and pirates constantly. I not only know what it is, I know how to use it." Adam answered back as he began to check up on the situation down on the planet using his sensor system set to monitor the Earth.
Seeing the situation progressing as it originally did thanks to Adam telling his team what to do and gave them a play to act out for Loki. They found it ironic we were tricking a god of trickery, but readily agreed since they thought it interesting.
So Adam set his destination for Stark Tower knowing that would be where Loki will be heading after escaping the helicarrier.
"I will trust you for now, but if I find you have bad intentions for the Earth you will find out just how good I am. Sir." Peggy said since she couldn't tell if it was a good or bad thing that Adam had the cube.
"I'm sure. I will tell you now, I plan to unify the Earth. It's the only way to survive in this universe. A divided world can never truly be successful, they are like crabs in a bucket. If one country succeeds in a breakthrough, the others will use underhanded means to steal or destroy it. Don't worry I don't mean to unify it by conquering it, we will eliminate the organizations which are keeping it from happening in the first place. However the UNSC will handle only Space, we will have a presence on the planet, but the planet will vote on the world leaders. UNSC will only defend the Earth from threats to its safety. We are a military branch Mrs Carter, not a judicial or executive one, although we do have those positions internally within the UNSC they specialize in military protocol and practice, not governing a planet. So if a member of the UNSC wishes to govern the planet they must retire from the UNSC first, just like it is in your government on Earth, for the most part." Adam explained his long term plan since Peggy would be a massive help in working towards this goal. She had contacts in every country on the planet pretty much, so she could easily negotiate with world leaders.
She was highly respected by not only her allies but also her enemies as well, it was why even HYDRA wouldn't let her go even after retirement.
"Words are empty, I prefer actions and I do agree with you. It was why the original idea for SHIELD was to be autonomous from any one government, we would work towards the benefit of the planet as a whole rather than corporate interests." Peggy said with a sigh, she was relieved to know he wouldn't use force to unify the planet.
She didn't know why he felt so confident in being able to accomplish such a thing without a World War since that has always been how it is when someone has tried to unify the world in history. She understood that there are many organizations like HYDRA. But most were just corporate giants that were more after dominating money, whereas HYDRA wanted to dominate people.
"Have Teams Alpha thru Gamma launch now and set up in their positions in New York. I want them in place before the invasion, the portal won't be open for long. It will take a few minutes for the EMP to hit and I can't close the portal till after the explosion since it will lose connection to our systems since it would be too far away from the ship." Adam ordered as he witnessed Loki escape, he was proud of Yelena for being able to keep Phil Coulson from being stabbed and killed by Loki.
"Copy that, I really hope you know what you're doing Commander, you're playing a dangerous game. This Captain Marvel has an estimated time of arrival in about two hours." Peggy informed him then disconnected to get the teams to Earth.
It wasn't long till Adam arrived at Stark tower, he saw Erik Selvig on the roof setting up the machine. Checking to see if Loki was here yet using his x-ray vision on the building, not finding him there yet Adam began to prep the rocket launcher with the new EMP.
Exiting the ship from high above so that he wouldn't be seen by Erik, Adam jumped out and used his own flight abilities to land atop the roof quietly. Pretty soon Loki will show up then Tony not long after.
While waiting Adam got curious what suit Tony had been working on, so using his x-ray vision to look down into the manufacturing plant Tony uses inside the tower to build and design new suits, what he saw shocked him greatly.
Rather than seeing the original Mark 7 which he knew he wouldn't see since Tony was currently wearing his Mark 7 suit, Adam expected to see Mark 8 but what he was looking at was the Mark 15, more commonly known as Sneaky.
Using his own scanners, he was able to see that Tony had a giant leap in his armor technology.
'Damn that guy is smart, a few hours aboard my ship and he jumps 8 generations in his suit. What happens if he is on for a month? Will he jump straight to Mark 85 which was his last suit before he died?' Adam couldn't help but be amazed at Tony's genius.
'I already have Banner, soon Stark since he's practically already joined just not in an official case since he has been busy. Now I need to get Reed Richards and Sue Storm which the other two will follow which is fine. Shuri as well as her brother T'Challa, all of them are some of the most intelligent people on the planet. Doom is a possibility to recruit although it is slim, he is very proud so he is hard to work with but he is highly intelligent as well. That's what I need to boost my own technology quickly.' Adam thought to himself, then he witnessed Loki appear on the roof to check on Erik's progress.
'It's about time, not too long till two Infinity Stones are in my hands.'
