Alpha Damien and the others arrived at the park where Liam fought with Makasti. The Alpha gasped when he saw Liam in a pool of his own blood. He hurriedly went to him.
"Carry him up! Gently!" He told the troupes
"Hold on kid... We're getting help"
Liam was carried into the temporary camp where the pack doctors hurried to help him and the other injured werewolves.
Layna had long realized through the mate bond that Liam was injured. Her chest weighed heavy on her and she turned pale.
Just then she heard the sounds of noise outside.
"It seems the troupes have arrived" Tiana said
Layna rushed outside only to see Liam pale and lifeless with a gory hole in his chest.
"Liam!" Layna screamed "what happened to him? Liam... Honey... Somebody answer me!!"
"He fought with Makasti" Alpha Damien said
Just then Liam groaned and turned his head,
"I'm sorry Layna... I won't be able to accompany you anymore"
"No" Layna cut in "Don't speak like that! You won't die Liam ... You can't leave me!" She trembled as she spoke with tears clouding her eyes.
"I'm so.. sorry" Liam croaked as he stretched his hand to caress her face.
The surrounding people all had red and teary eyes. Some were already crying silently.
Layna fell weakly at Liam's side and grabbed his hand which was caressing her face tightly to her cheek,
"Liam... I beg you.. please hold on... Don't die... Please... Please..." She cried "I can't live without you please"
"Forget me Layna... Live ... Well and forget me"
With that Liam's hand slipped down and he breathed his last.
"No! No! Liam! You can't do this to me! You can't do this to me!"
May and Tiana cried as they tried to console Layna who pushed them away. Luna Amalia cried in the arms of Alpha Damien.
"No! Don't block Liam from seeing me! This is a prank right? This is a fucking prank! It had better be 'cause you can't die Liam! You can't leave me please... Don't leave me..." She whispered in tears.
Strangely, Liam's body did not dissipate into ash. Gamo Diana was summoned about the anomaly and she said,
"He felt strong emotions for the princess... Emotions so strong and true that his heart started beating"
Layna cried even more upon hearing this.
Later that day, Liam was put in a coffin and laid to rest. Everyone threw their flowers as the coffin was lowered while Layna stood at the side of the grave in mourning clothes. She stood like she was in a daze (which she was) till May came up to her with the rest of her family.
Mr Whyte sighed and hugged his daughter while the others including Mrs Whyte, Luna Amalia and Alpha Damien also hugged her. Layna stayed unresponsive, with her eyes fixed on the coffin like a broken doll.
"Honey please don't do this to yourself " Mrs Whyte said as she wept
"So... He... Died" Layna said in a low voice
"He died honorably" Alpha Damien said
"Honorably you say?" She snorted coldly and clenched her fists at her side tightly.
She threw a white rose into the open grave and turned around on her heels.
"Layna dear won't you watch the sealing of the grave?" Luna Amalia
"What's there to watch? He left me after all" She said as tears streamed down her face.
"Layna..." May called out
"It's fine... I'll be fine... Hmmm" Layna said walking away
Before May and Tiana could follow her she warned, "I want to be alone"
Layna ran out to the woods and transformed to a wolf, she howled heartbreakingly.
The white wolf howled like it was wounded and crouched on the ground.
Her blue eyes blazed with rage and sadness, so much that the white fur of her body started blazing gold and her eyes turned from blue to a silvery glow. Her aura spread through the entire mortal realm and supernatural realm.
