The last time I saw Amelia, she looked really different and pale that I couldn't hold back the tears that threatened to fall. Her beautiful skin was covered with alot of bruises. Amelia was always the centre of interest in this family. She was loved by everyone around us. Every man craved her which led to scuffle in different occasion. I don't think she deserves whatever she's going through right now because she's the best sister one can ever have,I've always got her support,care and encouragement. The devil is really cruel to have given such a wonderful diamond to a brute
"Katherine!!!" a scream came from the door and I jumped up immediately.
That was my mother,Carol Jenny, she's fond of screaming my name whenever she sense I'm sleeping at the wrong time. She's the fourth and last lady of the house.She has no say in most discussion. I had my bath,brushed my teeth,brushed my long black hair and put on my uniform which is a white long sleeve shirt and a blue skirt along with white socks.
On getting downstairs,the chairs in the dinning room had all been occupied. I went to the sitting room to get another chair. When I got back, I realized Angela had her bag on one of the seats. There were six chairs in the dinning room. Joanna and Julianna occupied two chairs Angela and her school bag occupied another two and Kimberly sat on the last one. I dragged my chair and accidentally hit Angela's bag which fell. Before I could turn to pick it she snapped
"If you left your manners in your bed room you better go pick it up"
She is found of attacking me
"It wasn't intentional " I replied without looking at her.
"Is that suppose to be an apology?" Kimberly interrupted
Honestly I wasn't in the mood to talk so I just ignored her
Kimberly is my sister from the same mother
Angela is Amelia's younger sister from the senior wife and the twins, Joanna and Julianna are from the second wife.They are always in their own world knowing they will soon be the the same fate as Amelia.
I scoffed my food quickly and the three of us got into my mother's car. It wasn't actually her car, it belonged to the man she got married to.
The twins went by bus to school.
"Take a look at Katherine" Angela said to Kimberly and they both laughed
"It looks like someone is going to go through pain this year if she doesn't keep up to expectations in her studies" Angela said again and the both laughed.They are both silly.
We finally reached the school. It is a large school with alot of facilities. The environment is beautiful and there are alot of flowers around.
"Hope mummy won't get any bad complain about you in school this year"Kimberly said as they both laughed and walked away
"Katherine" mother called as I turned to face her
"Don't get discouraged by those two, I know you will make me proud this year" she stated
"Don't be so sure, if last year was a disaster I don't expect you to have any hope that I will make it this year" I added
"You're not a failure and yes you need to fail to learn, your father has plans of giving you away like Amelia if you don't sit up and I don't want that for you my child"mom said
I felt the pain in her voice.She quickly wiped the tears that was going to fall
"Go ahead, your classes will soon commence" she said and drove away.
Apart from family problems, I had problems academically I did really badly last year but I was still promoted when I should have repeated the class. As I moved to my classroom I thought deeply about my life
would we all end up like Amelia?
was I really the last child of the devil?
"Kathy!" she interrupted my thoughts.
I turned to see Abby who ran towards me.She hugged me, gave me a reassuring smile and led me into the class room. All eyes were on me
"Is she meant to be in this class?" I heard someone say
"of course not she probably came to pick up something'' I heard another say
I just ignored them and went straight to an vacuum chair and sat down. Abby went to attend to another student. She is from a middle class family.She is smart and always willing to help others. Edward,a notorious boy passed and stepped on my toe. It really hurt but I didn't want to cause a scene even though I badly wanted to devour him. The incorrigible boy passed and repeated the same act. This time I stood up and dragged him by the neck
"pumpkin you better watch it" I said to him
"Did you just call me pumpkin or you were referring to your ancestors?" the whole class laughed. I got really mad and tried to hold back
"Don't you realize you did your stupid act twice?" I questioned
"Bimbo!" He spat and I landed several punches on his face.
"What do you take me for you hideous bastard!!!" I screamed at him with rage.I really didn't notice when Mr Agustin stepped in
" Katherine Jenny,you have refused to turn a new leaf, detention for both of you after school today" he said and stepped out.
"But Mr Agustin I didn't rebel against her, she hit me when I did nothing wrong to her" Edward said in a mocking manner and laughed. I walked out of the class and banged the door.
After some hours,the bell rang and students from different department rushed out. It was break time.Kimberly and Angela came out too.They both sighted me sitting close to the pool.Kimberly whispered something to Angela which made her laugh and Kimberly came to meet me. She sat down beside me and looked at me for a while
"When will you learn how to control it? You keep messing around like some lost fool" She said
"Kimberly, I want to be alone" I said back
"Grow up Katherine it's really not too late" she said. I said nothing to her
"Can't you see you keep paintinpg us black and dragging our name to the mud stop being a bitch. Use your head even if it's for a while.Wisen up will you? Angela is right about y..." she said
"If I were you Kimberly I will use this time to improve my life, can't you see it's not working? I don't and I will never listen to this gibberish talk" I said and stood up. She stood up too
"Really Katherine? and if I were you I would prepare myself for father's wrath" she said and walked away.My heart began to pound fast the devil will surely find out about this
will this be my last moment? will I live to see another day?
