A few days after our wedding Nick and I were off to New York. It was good to spent a few days drinking and partying in Vegas with Lia and Austin who actually lived in Vegas full time and knew the best places to go to.
We went to different clubs too although I wasn't a huge fan of night clubs where people were drunk and often did questionable things. I still went along to keep an eye on Nick after all I still have no idea what type of person he really is.
From what I've seen so far he seems to be easy going and always cracking jokes with Austin and everyone around us. Nick was also super polite. He smiled at every employee at restaurants and gave decent tips to them but that's not enough for me to really understand him or see what kind of guy he really is. I knew tons of rich people who acted all sweet but were devils in disguise. Maybe Nick was just like that.
Lia had become a friend of mine by the time we left because she was actually funny despite talking a bit too much. I enjoyed listening to her stories of growing up in wales and how she hated moving to the states.
She even told me how she and Austin met after he saved her from her burning car. She said he was like an Angel who was sent to protect her. Looking at Nick beside me I wondered if he was my Angel. I mean he saved me from marrying a power hungry jerk.
If Nick saved me for the reasons he claimed to have married me for then I'll consider him as my Angel but he could be lying to my face too. I could be a pawn in some sick game or something worse...
Nick turns to me probably feeling my stare. "Am I that amusing to look at?"
"No. I was just thinking."
"You're worried about your family's reaction to us?"
I shake my head no. "They'll be confused, shocked and probably relieved..."
"Relieved?"
"Yes. They'll think I'm married to someone I love. So they'll be relieved."
"Won't anyone suspect our relationship timeline or when and where we met or why you haven't mentioned me before?" Nick questions.
"No. I'll tell them we met in Korea, a few years back I actually taught English there for two years. I'll say I had no idea you and Michael were related and that we broke up on bad terms which is why I never spoke of you...They'll believe me."
Nick looks at me with concern. "I'm sorry I dragged you in this mess. You don't deserve this."
"Its not like I am some innocent by stander. I took your hand that day...which meant I agreed to be apart of this lie."
He doesn't respond so I decide not to say anything else.
------------------------------------------------------
The head butler for our family Mr Raymond smiles at me once he sees me at the door. He is a old tall man with gentle eyes but a strong presence. When we were children Terra, Shawn and I would cause trouble around the house and Mr Raymond would keep it a secret from mom because she's crazy and wouldn't stop yelling at us so Mr Raymond would secretly scold us instead.
"Miss Samantha. Please come in." He says keeping his eyes focused on me. Nick stood beside me holding my hand, he had his signature smile plastered on his face.
"Hey Raymond. How have you been?" I question smiling at him.
"I've been better Miss Samantha oh and welcome sir." Raymond said acknowledging Nick.
Nick extends his hand. "Hi. I'm Nick."
"Raymond. Sir."
"Pleasure to meet you."
"The pleasure is all mine sir." Raymond politely says.
We enter the main living room and to my horror father, mother, Terra and my brother Shawn sat there with non other than Michael.
"Samantha!" Mother rushes to my side giving me a tight hug. She holds me as if I could fly away at any second. "I was so worried about you baby."
"I know. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have ran away like that."
Terra shot my a glare before yelling. "And yet you did! Without caring about the future of our company!"
"Terra!" Warns Shawn who stood leaning against the wall with his arms crossed. Shawn was against the marriage with Michael so much he refused to attend the wedding.
"I'm sorry but I couldn't marry him. I just couldn't-" I began to say but my sister gets up rushing to me wanting to slap me. Nick grabs her hand stopping her midway.
For the first time since I've been around Nick I see a fierce expression on his face. "Don't touch my wife!"
Mom gasps covering her mouth. Nick turns to the rest of the family letting go of Terra. "If you want to be angry at someone be angry with me. I chose to stop the wedding and take Sammy back."
Michael scoffs before saying something in Japanese. Nick turns to him and responded in Japanese as well.
"What the hell is wrong with you uncle? Why do you think everything is a competition between us?!" Nick says in English finally allowing us to understand.
"Are you two married?" Father finally says something.
Nick looks at me before taking my hand into his. "Sam and I are in love. We are already married. No one can break us up now."
"Bullshit! Sam when did you even meet this guy?!" Terra angrily shouts.
I glare at her. "Terra why don't you get that I and Nick are together huh? If you're so mad I didn't marry Michael why don't you marry him yourself?"
"Oh maybe I will!" She shouts back shocking everyone.
"Terra don't just talk because you're angry. I think everyone needs to chill the fuck out." Shawn says agitated.
"I'm not angry. I've just had enough of our sister not wanting to stop being selfish. Didn't you run off to Korea when we really needed you?!" Terra yells. "You always do things for your own good! How come you never mentioned this guy to us before?!"
"Its complicated...Nick and I met in Korea and broke up because I rushed back to New York for the family! So tell me how am I selfish?"
"Michael was our only hope and you destroyed everything."
I rush to Terra and grab her by the shoulders. "Don't you dare do this Terra! That man is the cause of our family's bankruptcy!"
Michael gets up looking shocked. "What the hell are you talking about?"
I turn to him unable to control my anger. "Don't act innocent Mr Sakurada. I know the truth!"
"What truth do you know?" He questions making me feel like punching him.
"That you caused our company to be destroyed in order to use my father as some puppet who you'll be easily able to control because you married his daughter." I yell in anger.
"Don't be so naive Samantha! Your father is my best friend. I wouldn't anything like that to him."
"I don't believe a word you're saying!"
"Sam just think about it...I helped your dad establish the company myself, Why on earth would I try to harm his business now?!"
His words leave me a bit stunned. I remember Dad praising Michael back in the day. He had contributed a lot to our company in its early days. So what he's saying might actually be true.
