"How about that guy's method?" Albert nodded toward the crowd nearby.

"What a solution," Fred muttered. He had originally expected Albert to propose something reliable.

"If you do that, Filch will end up in the office..." Albert glanced at Fred and trailed off.

"You mean the drawer..." George recalled the drawer with the confiscated, highly dangerous label he had seen when Filch brought him to his office last time. He murmured, "But then who will draw his attention?"

"What are you talking about?" Fred asked, looking puzzled. He wasn't following the conversation.

"Drawers. Confiscated supplies. Highly dangerous," George clarified in three words.

"That's a good idea." Fred's eyes lit up as he understood what his brother meant. He was curious about what might be in there.

"You'll need to learn the unlocking charm first," Albert reminded them.

"Why don't you do it? We can distract Filch for you," the twins proposed, looking at Albert not wanting to spend time on something their friend can already do.

Albert raised an eyebrow and asked, "You don't know the unlocking charm yet?"

"Not yet. When do we start?" the twins said after thinking of their future and how useful the charm may be.

"Let's head back to the dormitory. You can practice on the drawers there."

Soon after, Lee Jordan returned with news.

William—the guy who always seemed to be inviting trouble—had failed to avoid detention, and his punishment was washing chamber pots.

"Well, it seems as punishment the guy's cant do that later" Albert quipped, slinging his backpack over his shoulder and heading back to the Gryffindor dormitory.

When they arrived, Albert found the Weasley twins already flipping through a spellbook.

Lee Jordan looked at them, puzzled.

"Are these the same twins I know?" he wondered aloud.

"Alohomora," George said, taking out his wand and trying it on a locked drawer. The attempt failed.

"Focus. Pay attention to the gestures you're making" Albert instructed, watching the twins practice. He turned to Lee Jordan, who was sitting nearby watching them curiously.

"What's gotten them so excited?" Lee asked quietly.

"They need the spell for something, so they're practicing now," Albert replied vaguely. "Anyway, we'll have to learn it in class eventually. Why not start now?"

"You're something else," Lee muttered as he pulled out his wand, joining in the practice. Determined, to master the spell faster than the twins.

Albert shared the difficulties he'd faced while learning the unlocking spell and offered tips to avoid common mistakes to the group. Still, given their current skill level, none of them were likely to succeed anytime soon.

While the others practiced, Albert picked up The Dark Forces: A Guide to Self-Protection and began reading the parts he hadn't finished.

"Giving up already?" he asked without looking up as he hear a thud.

"Temporarily," Lee grumbled. "This is impossible!"

After half an hour of fruitless practice, the lock remained locked, leaving them frustrated.

"I practiced for ages before I got it," Albert said totally forgetting the fact that he has a cheat out of his mind. "Remember: the incantation, gestures, and focus all need to be spot on. Don't hesitate when casting aswell".

"Forget it. I'll just get started on the afternoon classwork," Lee said, feeling exhausted.

The twins, though equally frustrated, kept going. Their plan depended on mastering the spell. Albert was right—they'd have to learn it sooner or later, so they might as well persevere now and learn it.

"Have you finished that book?" Lee asked, pointing to The Dark Forces.

"Not yet. I've skimmed through it. Most of it introduces dark creatures and how to defend against them," Albert replied.

"For someone like me, who grew up as a Muggle, it's a good introduction to the dangers of the magical world and basic ways to protect yourself. It's actually more about escaping or seeking help than fighting back."

Albert chuckled. "Honestly, it's pretty general good advice. That's probably why protective items sell so well. By the time you've finished this book, you might not even know how to cast a proper Shield Charm. In fact, I haven't seen the term 'Shield Charm' mentioned anywhere so far."

By the end of the afternoon, the twins still hadn't mastered the unlocking spell which Albert wasn't surprised about.

"How long do you think it'll take us to get this right?" Fred asked, clearly annoyed.

"Give it a day or two," Albert said confidently. "Spells require a solid foundation of magical power. Since you know fewer spells than I do and practiced less, your magic reserves aren't as strong mine. When I first started, I had similar struggles. The more magic you learn, the faster you'll pick up new spells".

The trio exchanged uncertain looks. Albert's explanation sounded logical, but they couldn't shake the feeling he was teasing them.

"Maybe the unlocking spell is just too advanced for us," Albert mused. "After all, you haven't even mastered the wand lighting charm yet."

His comment hit its mark, leaving the three deflated.

"I didn't realize learning magic would be this hard," George sighed, flopping back onto his bed disheartned.

"Don't forget, The Standard Book of Spells: Year 1 only contains a handful of spells. We're supposed to spend an entire year learning them," Albert added.

Fred stared at Albert, realization dawning. "Wait… have you already learned all the spells in Year 1?"

"Pretty much," Albert admitted. "But remember, what we're learning is just the most basic application of magic."

"What do you mean by 'basic application'?" they asked, confused.

Albert lit up his wand and waved it in front of them. "This is the standard Lumos spell. But have you ever considered making the light brighter? Or detaching it from the wand and letting it float freely?"

"Can you really do that?"

"Professor Flitwick probably can," Albert said, extinguishing the light and sighed. To create a magic lamp, he'd need to level up his Lumos spell—something that would require significantly more effort and experience than he currently had.

By the end of the day, the twins had made little progress, but they weren't giving up just yet.

The End.
