The sun eventually rose and pushed away the darkness that had been the backdrop to such a horrible night.
Axel and Iris continued forward through the forest, not having spoken in quite a few hours. Even though The Divine Cult was consuming most of their thoughts, they moved forward regardless. Soon the trees began to thin out and more rays of light were breaking through.
They had made it out the other side of the forest which was about a full day's walk from Crimson City. Laid out before them was an open stretch of land with a city dotted on the horizon. That wasn't the only thing they noticed however - Tetia's presence was definitely known here. At least her forces anyways.
Smoke could be seen coming from the city as angels flew the skies in almost every direction near the city. Based on the stronger divine energy sources they had started to pick up the closer they got to the forests edge, this looked like a currently active assault.
