Let me tell you the tale of a King, clad in the Armor of His own Bones. He was a wee lad when this story began, and this tale has seen several lands. We'll Start at the beginning.
He woke up, into a era of technological revolution. He was just a babe, yet to gain any knowledge, but would have his dreams come true because of all of the potential in the future.
But he was plucked, and god's from a distant land decided to have them in their game. Should he find his purpose, he'd find his way home. Should he chose to head back is his choice. But no returning to the lands before.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
He woke up, in his crib, and started to gain consciousness.
He looked around in awe at his surroundings, grasping hold of his life. He was confused, not understanding anything on his own, and only had his thoughts.
With no concept of language, he could only feel. He started to look upwards, studying the ceiling, and started learning to move, even if it was hard. Very slowly, but just a wee lad. With no knowledge, it's rather peaceful. He learned he like to wiggle, as it was the most he could move.
Enjoy moving his arms around, and then he discovered his fingers, interested in the spindly little things. Eventually, he realized they could move. It was hard, but he could. He played with his hands in utter delight, not a worry in the world.
A portal opens, and someone looking very menacing walks through, and study's the child. The child stares back, understanding they don't mean harm. Even giggles a little at the weapon the size of them sitting on their back.
The menacing individual laughs under their breath, nodding at the child. He reaches forward, gesturing to the child, speaking with instinct, with whether he may lift him, and offer him pretty colorful things, as the child discovers, as the man spoke telepathically. Sending the images directly into this child's head, showing no harm.
The child giggles, and sends a image back, of one of the colorful things, as it was pretty. It was an amethyst. Very beautiful shade of darker variant, but still. He looks at the child in wonder, wondering why that little one. He turns, smiling, but turns back, and has a crystal in his hands, and it's a brighter hue. The man, doesn't realize, that this child, wishes for the darker one, as he is very picky.
The man scowls, and this scares the child, as this menacing individual seems angry, and he cries out, worried about his safety.
The man panics, and lifts the child up, and darts into a portal, not sure where he was going. This man can't control his travel. He just wanted to give the child a gift, and would set it outside of the crib. So the poor thing wouldn't choke, and accidentally kidnapped the child.
Eventually, the portal closes, as it was a pocket dimension type, like a tunnel, one door on one side, another the other, and they are stranded. An interdimensional limo. It's night.
The sky is vibrant with energy, and there's several big planets, easily seen from this atmosphere. Easily breathable. They are just very far away, as this planet simply orbits the largest, and furthest.
The materials here don't have to condense very easily, or at least, the puny gravitational resistances of the materials from their realities, and this man looks around in shock.
He goes to set the babe down, and frowns at this, as he does, and he sighs.
"Fuuuuuuuuuuuck." He lets out, quietly.
"Damnit." He says, looking up at the sky.
He takes a swig from his flask at his side, and walk upwind, hoping to walk somewhere, if anything was here, as there was plant life on this planet. See, most of the multiverses life isn't in the kids original land, or universe. In fact, the opposite.
The kids world, he was one of the only few planets to have life. Less then 20. Very hard to live in a death trap.
The planets here are so far apart, it'll take eons to float closer together. The more worrying thing, was how long the light hits them, and if they'll start to heat up after a while.
Fortunately, the trees help a lot with their recycling, and grow massively, larger then the largest trees ever, for the shorter ones. At least, their evers. This was more then just any place.
This planet is off of the main planet of this universe. Most have life. The largest one, has the strongest beings living there, and they are bigger then planets. It's amazing they don't condense into black holes with how much mass they have. But they also greatly draw magical energy towards them.
See, the stars in most worlds, drain away at the magical energies as well as gas, but create special magical energies as well. Remember, this is a tale.
In any case, the man has no clue that he and this child has no bearing on the effect on this world, and travels again, hoping to find civilization, traveling randomly.
That world alone drew hundred of tons of magical particles into them, and were being processed safely due to the peaceful nature of that universe, as conflict was considered pointless. Just eat the dead.
Fresher the better. No one wanted to die, so they waited, for eons, before jumping onto their food, as they collapse, and collide with enough energy to shatter earths billions of times, just by landing on their prey.
In any case, a few hours in, they find a place to go. A magical and science enlightened land. Life is boring, as they have all they want. The man looks at the child, and compares him to the living inhabitants of this world, and wonder if he looks close enough. A few have horns. Wings. Many races, diverse as the stars. All of these people can mate with each other and produce offspring, as they had evolved from bacteria to do so. The man doesn't know this.
Funnily, it is very similar to human mating.
He asks around, and the higher beings of the species tell him a safe place for the child, as they are using intent, as you remember the man offered a gem.
The child stares around in awe, wondering where they are. The people look pretty, scary, and just amazing and colorful. A very diverse population, where everyone was different. On both inside and outside. Good thing it's not a hive mind, the man thinks, and a few laugh.
They notice what the man says, and he is discovered, and he goes to run, but they put their hands up, wanting him to stay.
"Please. Stay here. It's safer here." They ask, and he nods, holding out the child to one of them.
"It's not yours..." One says, grasping hold of his language.
Another, a very pretty lady, with black hair, with purple accents, almost the exact color the babe wanted walks forward, and reaches out towards the child.
He looks at her and giggles at her fur, as this lady is a lycanthrope. Or the closest to one. Constantly. Bit smaller of one, and not nearly as monstrous. Human head, as most do here, strangely. She holds out her hand, and a spark of purple energy darts between them, and she giggles, holding the child, noticing his magical energies, as he has gone supermassive with his magical energy, and was peacefully assimilated. He might as well have become a god.
Unfortunately, his body wouldn't need that strength here. It was his mind that needs to develop. Unfortunately, he only had about 5 percent of the assimilated energy go to his head.
Someone reaches to the man who brought the babe here, and a portal opens around the entirety of the space they occupied, and air replaces where they were. The man was supercharged, and couldn't control the activation, warping them away.
Someone drops to the ground, crying, knowing they won't see them again. Too many universe if they are still alive. But this is the child's story. The people bring one of most brilliant creations, a biological motherboard, like an amazing biological technological wonder, outside of the ability the child world would be capable of doing safely. It allowed for them to play and study, and develop further. There are lots of ways to play.
Puzzles, among other things. Puzzles are one of their favorite things. Video Games got boring, as most are just excelling in their abilities to play, and they don't really like combat. It's viewed as vulgar.
The boy, ages, and eventually, he grows old enough to have his filter turned off.
He learns of the games they have, and is interested in playing with his imagination, and decides to have a world where people can talk in their heads. But learns they already can. It's just viewed as boring by people around him, as they study for ambitious discoveries for any of their tech, as they are much more advanced, it's much harder to find new. They've had this kind of thing for centuries, after all.
The babe, is now a full grown man, and is looking through everything, and realizes he can play with his body, and imagines things with them, and reflexively prepares to fight a opponent who doesn't exist, and uses the tech to enter the imagination space.
He enters a world without any real rules, where he can have anything he wants. Taste, feel, anything. He notices there's a few things for mating partners to watch, and notices his urges.
This man, is still a teenager. By this worlds standards, he's old. They age fast, and the woman who raised him was gone long ago. Each year he has neat family, as they can live forever, in instants. They don't need extremely long lifespans, when they spend centuries in instants. Or can. Easily. They get bored easily, so this is a very sinful world, where they go off of whims, and everyone is happy.
Everyone is a great mating partner. This young man, not even really old enough to be considered a man in his world, is 17. He legally is allowed here to make, but he is still curious as why that is a good thing. He doesn't understand the horny, as humans would call it. He isn't a human by this point, he's just another unique being, in a unique circumstance. A environment where everyone is unique.
Hard to find similar. There's so much.
He falls in love with a girl. They age, and shes older, wanting to love him, and he doesn't understand, and she disappears, finding someone who isn't... Stupid.
He weeps, hearing of her after. He's glad she found love.
He enters the space, and give an idea.
"Can I... Live in a different kind of world? One... A bit... different..." He says, weeping, not understanding who he is. Why he is. He still isn't named. No one here uses names. He notices Himself. He realizes who he is again, and his hands touch, and a fleeting moment of familiarity happens, but he doesn't know what it is.
The machine ponders, wondering why this individual feels... Sad. This isn't normal. No one gets sad. Why? It studies his brain, down to who he was from his perspective, from birth, processing Human thoughts. It notices this child is older then it realized, and has the longest use time of any of it's records.
It's scans his biological data, and checks it's database, and finds a news article, and sheds an invisible tear, understanding mortality. It looks at it's individuals, and sees they are... Happy.
But they aren't satisfied.
