Chapter 43 - Chapter 41: Lauren and the Unicorn

Upon entering her house, Lauren found herself greeted by an empty silence, lacking the familiar presence of her sister Chloe. Seizing the opportunity, she made her way straight to her own room, longing for a rejuvenating shower and a momentary respite from the day's events.

Donning her silky, crimson-colored short pajamas, Lauren settled onto her bed, clutching the books in her hands. After much internal debate, she made the decision to delve into the secrets of the ancient Grimoire first.

Untying the delicate ribbons that bound the mystical book, she eagerly opened its pages, only to find herself disheartened by the presence of unfamiliar writing. Rising from the bed, she swiftly reached for her phone left atop the vanity.

Returning to the book, Lauren poised her phone's camera, preparing to capture the text and attempt a translation.

To her astonishment, as she gazed through the lens, the once incomprehensible words seemed to align and make sense within her mind.

Overwhelmed by the revelation, she fumbled and dropped her phone, instinctively gripping the Grimoire with both hands.

Taking a second look, she felt an otherworldly connection emanating from the pages, as if the book itself was speaking to her. Summoning her courage, she began to read the words aloud, uncertain of their meaning.

"For within the heartcore of every daughter of the Benneth coven is the power to become a formidable sorceress," she recited, pausing to contemplate the gravity of what she had just read.

After a moment of contemplation, curiosity pushed her forward, urging her to continue reading.

"Word for word, breath for breath, call forth these spells," she continued. As she reached the following words written in Latin, a language she fortunately had some knowledge of, she cleared her throat and continued reciting.

"Sum Venefica Benneth, a dea lunae creata, potestatem vitae et mortis habeo, nexus sum intermundorum supernaturalium, ponderem protegam..."

The incantation left her lips, punctuated by a sudden gush of wind that forcefully flung open her windows, their hinges creaking in protest.

Her irises transformed into an ethereal white hue, while her platinum hair danced in the chaotic current.

Overwhelmed by the surge of enigmatic power, she succumbed to unconsciousness, her body yielding to the extraordinary forces at play.

That fateful night, a cascade of supernatural forces converged, and the embodiment of an ancient prophecy unfolded through the fire that lit the sky in the shape of a dragon.

In a stunning display of mystical power, the greatest sorceress to have ever graced the realms was reborn.

As the clock struck midnight, there appeared an ink etching the intricacies of a colossal dragon tattoo onto Lauren's back. marking the realization of a thousand-year-old prophecy.

Lauren's dreamscape shifted as she gradually awakened in an unfamiliar environment. The comforting, sweet aroma of roses entwined with lavender penetrated her senses, gently coaxing her out of slumber. With a sleepy gaze, she blinked her eyes open and found herself unexpectedly face to face with a magnificent unicorn. The creature's majestic presence captivated her, and she couldn't resist reaching out to touch its face, enthralled by the silky and velvety textures beneath her fingertips.

In a drowsy and somewhat bewildered state, Lauren couldn't help but mutter to herself, half-believing that this encounter must surely be part of an elaborate dream.

As she caressed the unicorn's face, it responded by playfully blowing air at her hand, tickling her delicate skin. This unexpected sensation brought forth a delightful chuckle, a spontaneous hint of joy amidst her surreal experience.

As she reclined on the grassy floor, a gentle melody reached her ears. The melodic trill of hummingbirds in nearby foliage merged harmoniously, casting an enchanting chorus upon the air.

"Hmm, what a delightful song" she muttered, rubbing her eyes as if trying to shake off the remnants of sleep, finally yielding to the light of the waking world.

However, the moment she removed her hands from her eyes, a cascade of brilliant rays assaulted her vision, leaving her to shield herself instinctively from the streaming morning sun.

Perplexed, she pondered the peculiar circumstance of the sun's direct assault upon her lying form, her thoughts murmuring with uncertainty.

"That's rather strange," she mumbled, her voice tinged with a mix of curiosity and perplexity.

Yet again, as she withdrew her hands, the presence of the unicorn reappeared, its gaze once again fixated upon her. An uncanny stillness permeated the air, and Lauren found herself momentarily frozen, contemplating the strange prospect of an animal seemingly peering at her from an upside-down vantage point within her surroundings. A fleeting sense of disorientation began to gnaw at her consciousness, urging her to confront the truth.

And then, in a sudden and alarming realization, her mind snapped into focus, unveiling the startling revelation that this was not her bedroom.

In a reflexive response to this jarring dissonance, a shriek erupted from within her. She propelled herself upward, distancing itself from the grass floor, while the startled unicorn observed her with an amused expression, maintaining a safe distance.

Lauren spun around in a state of shock and bewilderment as the realization dawned upon her that this lush and verdant expanse, which she had believed to be her bedroom, was in fact an entirely different realm—the mysterious depths of the Amazon forest.

And to her astonishment, she discovered that she had been slumbering amidst the soft grass for a considerable period of time.

As her eyes finally settled upon the unicorn, engrossed in its morning meal, the creature momentarily paused in its munching, acknowledging her presence with a penetrating gaze.

However, much to her surprise, it swiftly averted its attention, once again diving into its delectable feast.

"So you are truly real" she murmured softly to the unicorn, hoping for some sign, some affirmation of its reality

In response, the creature glanced up at her and gently blew, as if offering a playful response. Yet, in the strangest twist of fate, she heard a voice—a deep male voice resonating in her mind.

"Well, yes, young lady, I am as real as everything else surrounding you," the voice echoed within her thoughts, distinct and undeniable.

Lauren's eyes widened in utter amazement as she struggled to comprehend the extraordinary phenomenon.

"Did you just speak to me?" she asked, her voice a harmonious blend of astonishment and excitement, as she approached the unicorn, her curiosity almost palpable.

"Yes, indeed, I did," the voice reverberated within her mind again, evoking a sense of intrigue. "So what about it?" it added, its tone both playful and teasing, subtly challenging her skepticism.

A mischievous smirk graced Lauren's face as she stood before the unicorn, crossing her arms in a gesture of playful defiance.

"If you can tell me my name, then, maybe, just maybe, I will entertain the notion that you are truly the one conversing with me and not just a figment of my imagination," she remarked, her eyes filled with a glimmer of playful skepticism.

The unicorn, having long abandoned its breakfast, regarded her with a penetrating gaze, as if contemplating her request. For a fleeting moment, it seemed as though the creature hesitated before turning away from her.
