Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 - Vows

All of the sudden Kasia was floating high in the sky. Surrounded by golden butterflies and she felt the wind on her face as her hair fluttered backwards. She wasn't scared but more mesmerized by how beautiful this place was. She had been climbing in the treetops since she arrived here in this world, finding peace and serenity looking across the vibrant landscape. Floating above it wasn't so bad either, it was calm and beautiful unlike her world that was red dirt as far as the eye could see in the cities. And high walls that blocked out the madness outside. This world was so vibrant

Kasia watched as the beasts continued to roam around and fly about. There was little glittering lights scattered across the landscape but what were they? They're all different sizes and shapes. With a variety of different colors. They were everywhere as far as the she could see in the distance.

Kasia watched them in wonder when a voice surrounded her being, it was soft and kind like she knew it for so long but she knew whose voice it was. "Beast goddess?"

The beast goddess chuckled at her words.

" I see that there was an interesting development with that healing pool of yours.

It was an oversight on our part, from this moment on it will only create mate marks If both female and male want more than anything to become mates within their own hearts. From now on it will be when the blood of the two who want to become mates mix, that they will receive their mate mark."

The beast goddesses voice grew softer and more faint. Kasia couldn't help but ask what the little lights everywhere were but the only answer she got was muffled and unintelligible.

She felt a light touch tracing across her face pulling the hair from her nose to behind her ears. Which startled her awake as it was such a strange feeling. She had been sleeping that was why she was floating in the sky it made so much sense now. But in front of her face was that red-haired man with bright green eyes looking at her so lovingly.

How could he look at her like this already? When they just met. She could have sworn that she saw a light tinge of red on his cheeks. Was he embarrassed?

He's....

He's... "So adorable... "

Those words left Kasia's mouth without her even realizing. Staring at this man so intently wondering how he could look at her with such a gentle gaze. As her stare intensified so did the tinge of red on his cheeks.

" It would seem you have a mate now sister.

How did that happen? And a dragon. I knew you were amazing but they don't normally want just anyone as a mate so He must know that you're incredible" Briar said chuckling at her sisters reaction to this male. She hadn't even noticed that she was awake she only had eyes for that male.

Like a bucket of cold water was poured on her head Kasia turned toward Briar, eyes brimmed with tears that quickly fell down her face.

"I'm so sorry Briar... You were so injured. I didn't think you would survive.. *hiccup*

I brought you back but I couldn't lift you..

That wolf.. he helped you. "

Briar simply hugged her sister . Nodding at her words. Patting her back lovingly like she had done for her a while ago. Smiling like there is absolutely nothing wrong with what had happened.

"I forced you to take another mate than Mal..."

Briar flinched, Kasia didn't know if it was Mal's name or that she now has a mate that she didn't have before she fell unconscious. Briar slowly let go of her embrace and looked herself up and down, not seeing any marks.

"It's on your back.."

Kasia traced the wolf image on her back.

"It was something unexpected but it's a skill Aure has.. I just found out yesterday as well." Pressing the mark on her own shoulder the tears slowed and a calm spread across her as she held her hand over her mark.

Briar looked toward Haran and asked if he hadn't done anything to her. If it was truly Aure.

He nodded without a word.

She had long since noticed the two males sitting in the other room but was unaware of the situation of why they were in the healing house. The only explanation was that Kasia

allowed them.

In that moment, Briar felt such relief that she hadn't betrayed Mal again. She couldn't accept Haran just yet but she wouldn't abandon him. After seeing Mal She realized that death would have been better than living without a heart.

"I can't accept you as my mate yet. But I won't turn you away. I need time but until then please don't force me"

Although disheartened Haran nodded in understanding. He had fallen in love with this female the last time she was in this beast city.

He knew how much she loved her only mate so he never pursued her. His heart broke the moment he heard that her mate had died.

Even if she doesn't want to accept him. He will be her protector until the day he dies.

He has the chance to be connected with this beautiful female even if she never loves him. Now he has the right to protect her.

He slowly walked up and asked if he could bring her to the opening of the cave. Not making eye contact, Briar agreed. Leaving Kasia and Azra all alone.

Azra held out his hand to his beautiful female motioning for her to take his hand. "Little female, I don't think I've had the pleasure of hearing your name. So I'd like to start over."

As Kasia's fingertips touched his hand he spoke again.

"My name is Azra. I was the king of this beast city before the current king tricked and disabled my arm with an incurable poison.

As a dragon, without my wings I could no longer be king. And I could also never go home without them. "

Azra pressed his forehead against this small hand within his own.

"I swear from this moment forward, I will never treat you with anything less than my utmost respect and to honor you. I will offer a vow to love you. I vow to carry you , to journey with you, and to love each moment that I have with you in my life. No matter the outcome good or otherwise I will stand by your side for the rest of my life."

After he finished talking, a bright light appeared from his forehead and entered into her hand. Kasia was startled but when he lifted his forehead, the bright light shimmered underneath her skin on her hand. He must have noticed her look of confusion because he chuckled.

"We of the dragon race give a vow to our mates and we will always follow it or else it might backlash and stop our hearts right then and there. So you can trust me, that I will love you forever."

Although Kasia wanted to tell him he didn't need to do that. She thanked him and hugged him like she's never hugged anyone before. She felt his love through this vow on her hand. It wasn't like the calm from the mate mark. She found someone that would truly love her forever and tears rolled down her face once again as she hugged him.

"My name is Kasia."

Once she let go she picked up his hand and put it to her forehead. "I vow that I will never abandon you. Although just beginning, this love that is but a droplet of water will be an ever flowing spring in time, never wavering and always there to quench your thirst when you feel the need for it. So long as you keep your vow and stay with me forever."

As she lifted her forehead from his hand there was no bright shining lights but she saw the glimmer in his eyes as she lifted her eyes to his. She could just tell that he would hold this vow in his heart forever. Smiling with a completely red face, Kasia could only smile back at this adorable man. She would do her best to not betray the trust of such a sweet man.
