Sitting on a stone bench outside Zhengsheng Apartments, Shen Ning had her head down, tears rolling down her cheeks like fallen pearls.
Noticing her pale complexion, Aunt Dong, who had been looking after Shen Ning for years, expressed her concern. "Miss, why do you look so pale? Is something troubling you? You can always share it with me, even if I can't solve it, I can lend a listening ear," she offered kindly.
Shen Ning, her eyes vacant and distant, took a moment before responding. "Aunt Dong, it looks like we might have to move away soon," she admitted with a heavy heart.
Aunt Dong, her voice full of warmth, suggested, "Well, this place isn't all that great anyway. We could go back to the White Villa."
Shen Ning shook her head. "No, we can't move there," she said with a hint of fear in her voice.
"That place belongs to Shen Mei and her daughter. Going there would be like walking into a trap," Shen Ning explained, her eyes welling up with tears.
