Chapter 9 - She’s Not Ready, He Respects Her

"Do you want it?"

Bo Su's sexy Adam's apple bobbed at her question, but in the end, he wrapped the bathrobe tightly around her and he could feel her body instantly stiffen like a bow.

"Shushu, you're not even ready. You're so tense," he said.

Yan Shu was annoyed. She had already missed out on Gu Yucheng because of her reserved personality. She didn't want history to repeat itself again.

Bo Su picked her up and carried her upstairs to the bedroom. He laid her gently on the bed and kissed her forehead. "Shushu, I know how you feel. Don't force yourself. I'll wait for you."

Yan Shu looked at him blankly. Bo Su covered her with a blanket and said, "It's too late now. Stay here for the night. I'm just next door. Remember to call me if you need anything."

Yan Shu nodded obediently.

However, she couldn't fall asleep in bed. She sat up and scrolled through current affairs and politics on her phone in boredom.

Her best friend, Wei Shuang, was calling her repeatedly on her phone. Yan Shu was forced to stop watching the news and pick up the call.

Wei Shuang asked angrily on the other end of the line, "Shushu, let me ask you, what's going on between you and Gu Yucheng? At the class reunion, Gu Yucheng said that the two of you had broken up a long time ago because things had faded due to the long-distance relationship. He also said that it was Ziwen who stayed by his side during his most difficult period. They got together because he felt grateful to her. Our classmates believed him and gave them their blessings. They also thought that you were willful and unreasonable. Everyone was saying stuff about you."

After a pause, she added vehemently, "Shushu, you're loyal and steadfast about relationships. I don't believe you'll take the initiative to end this relationship."

Yan Shu lowered her head and leaned against the bed. She said helplessly, "Shuangzi, from now on, Gu Yucheng is dead in my eyes. Don't mention him in front of me ever again." Yan Shu's eyes were filled with joy when she spoke about Gu Yucheng in the past, but now, she was filled with disappointment for the man.

Wei Shuang could tell what she was implying. "Shushu, you just deleted all the photos of Gu Yucheng and Ziwen this morning. Tell me, did you two break up only two days ago?"

Yan Shu tacitly acknowledged her words without saying anything.

Gu Yucheng was not a three-year-old child. He had to face the consequences for the decisions he made.

Wei Shuang was furious. "Wang Ziwen looks like she's at least five months pregnant. Gu Yucheng, that scumbag, cheated on you and still tried to manipulate public opinion to make it seem like it's your fault. Doesn't his conscience hurt for doing this to you?"

After scolding Gu Yucheng, Wei Shuang was extremely worried about Yan Shu's feelings. "Shushu, are you very upset? Do you want me to come over to your place and stay with you for a while?"

Yan Shu's tone was calm. "I'm fine."

She suddenly remembered Bo Su's words. "I only lost someone who doesn't love me."

Wei Shuang was relieved. "Shushu, a blessed woman doesn't enter an unfortunate family. To be honest, Gu Yucheng is really not worthy of you. A man, who is almost 30 years old, has no achievements under his belt. Besides that, his moral standards are so low. For those ten years that you have loved him, that was a blessing to his family. Just you wait and see. Karma will come for such a man."

Yan Shu smiled bitterly. "I only wish him well. That way, at least it proves that my judgment wasn't completely wrong."

Wei Shuang: "…"

"You're just too kind."

The next day.

When Yan Shu woke up, she realized that Bo Su had already left the house. He left her a note with a detailed message. "Shushu, when you open your eyes, there's a high chance that I have boarded the plane. So I'll say good morning to you in advance. I've already prepared breakfast and kept it in the warmer. Remember to eat on time. In addition, since you don't have a change of clothes, I bought two dresses for you. I hope you like them."

There was a pile of boxes, small and big, on the sofa. Yan Shu opened them and realized that in addition to two very pretty and elegant dresses, there were also matching bags and jewelry.

Yan Shu's heart was filled with indescribable warmth. Bo Su's care and concern for her were like the spring breeze and rain, washing away the muddy feelings that Gu Yucheng had brought her.

She replied to Bo Su, "Thank you for your gift, Mr. Bo. I like them very much. Your deep love and friendship is so generous. How can I ever repay you?"

After breakfast, Yan Shu changed into a peach-colored dress with a tailored collar. She adorned herself with a simple gemstone necklace and a pair of earrings. The outfit immediately showcased her charm to the fullest. After dressing up, she looked like an entirely different person.

She looked strong and confident while still maintaining her graceful and gentle demeanor.

Although she looked cool and aloof, there was still a sense of purity and innocence in her appearance.

In the end, Yan Shu took a small white bag with her and rushed out of the house to run to the hospital.

This morning, it was her turn to go on ward rounds with the chief physicians, so she had to report for work about half an hour earlier than usual.

However, as Yan Shu was not familiar with the new route, she arrived just slightly before the official hour.

When Yan Shu's colleagues saw her in her outfit, they were stunned by her refreshing appearance. Even the director, who usually did not smile, started teasing her. "Doctors in the Psychiatry Department should dress up like Yan Shu. She looks so elegant, tasteful, youthful and lively all at the same time. After seeing her, the patients might recover from their depression without needing any treatment."

Doctor Li retorted playfully, "Yan Shu's clothes are indeed good-looking, but ordinary workers like us need to be able to afford them. I'm afraid her entire outfit today would cost me a few months' of my salary."

The director's mouth gaped at her words. "Does her outfit cost that much?"

Dr. Li nodded. "I am very certain. The brand she's wearing is the most expensive luxury brand in Milan targeted at the upper class ladies."

Gu Yucheng was standing among the group of colleagues. When he heard Dr. Li's words, his expression was very obscure. He did not expect that Yan Shu's quality of life had improved by so much after breaking up with him.

At this moment, Yan Shu jogged over in a white coat. Dr. Li teased her, "Doctor Yan, you're all dressed up. Do you have a date today?"

Yan Shu shook her head.

Her husband was overseas. There was no one to go on a date with.

Gu Yucheng gave Yan Shu a meaningful look, and a smug smile appeared in his eyes. She must have dressed up for him.

"Let's get to work," the director ordered. Everyone regained their composure and walked towards the ward.

The reason why psychiatrists made ward rounds was to take care of the patients' mental health. This required effective communication between the doctors and the patients.

Gu Yucheng always seized every opportunity to humbly communicate with patients, all in an effort to showcase himself and his abilities.

This was especially so for the difficult lady in the VIP ward. Gu Yucheng took the trouble to communicate with her about her illness. He even patted his chest and promised her that he would cure her. The lady was all smiles at his coaxing.

Towards the end of the consultation, Gu Yucheng pushed Yan Shu in front of the rich lady. "Sister, this is Yan Shu, the most understanding doctor in the psychiatry department. With her counseling you in the future, your condition will definitely improve quickly."

He was offering Buddha with borrowed flowers. Yan Shu was extremely disgusted by his unscrupulous actions for the sake of his career.

Yan Shu did not play along with him. She reprimanded Gu Yucheng with a cold expression, "Gu Yucheng, are you crazy? When is it your turn to assign me work?"
