In the distance, the Third Kazekage, his chest oozing blood, stared at Aizen with a pale face and heavy breathing. His voice was strained as he asked, "When did you cast the illusion?"
Aizen's lips curled into a slight smile, his eyes narrowing as he replied with a light laugh, "From the moment we first met, you were already ensnared in my illusion, like a moth caught in a spider's web, unable to escape. The only path left for you is a shortcut to death."
The Third Kazekage's brows furrowed tightly as he recalled their first encounter, searching for any peculiar details about Aizen back then. He remembered that Aizen's power hadn't reached such heights at that time, and he had narrowly escaped from Aizen's grasp. Could it be?
Suddenly, he recalled Kyouhaku's earlier absurd speculation and his pupils contracted sharply in disbelief. "Did you hide your true strength from the beginning?"
Aizen's eyes gleamed with amusement as he observed the Kazekage, chuckling softly, "How did you figure that out, Third Kazekage?"
His smile faded to indifference as he continued, "Back then, I had countless opportunities to kill you, but the timing wasn't right, so I held back. Now, it's time for you to die peacefully."
The Third Kazekage's face darkened with anger as he growled, "You've been hiding your true power since then. What are you after? Are you trying to start another war by killing me?"
His eyes turned cold as he glared at Aizen, asking, "Did you cause the Second Ninja War?"
Aizen's eyes flashed with surprise and then amusement as he shook his head lightly, "I underestimated you, Third Kazekage. As you guessed, I did start the Second Ninja War."
He explained, "The villages have deep-seated distrust and resentment towards each other. I merely exploited that by eliminating a few key figures, which easily escalated the conflict."
"It may sound absurd, but this is the reality. This twisted ninja world warps people's perceptions."
"It's time to erase the darkness between people."
Aizen smiled at the heavily injured Kazekage, adding, "And because of that distrust, Sunagakure fell into my plan. Do you remember the incident, Third Kazekage?"
The Kazekage felt a chill run through his body as he pondered Aizen's words, suddenly recalling, "Were you the one who caused Shukaku's rampage?"
Aizen nodded with a soft laugh, "The power of the Tailed Beasts is indeed astonishing. However, the major nations have yet to harness their power properly, resulting in their current state."
"I will claim these divine gifts and unleash their true potential."
He looked at the Kazekage with a gleam in his eyes, "When that time comes, I will become a god."
Then, with a cold voice, he added, "Despite your seclusion in this desolate place, you managed to piece together my identity from scattered information. It's impressive."
"Should I spare your life? As an experienced Kage, infiltrating enemy territory could make my plans smoother."
"Give me your answer, Third Kazekage. Do you wish to live or die here?"
The Third Kazekage felt deeply insulted by Aizen's confident smile. From the start, this man had been scheming in the shadows, hiding his true intentions.
The prolonged Second Ninja War and his ambitions to control the Tailed Beasts were unforgivable.
His face turned grim, and his voice was hoarse and low as he declared, "Aizen, no matter your intentions—whether to destroy the villages or seize the Tailed Beasts' power—know this: the dignity of a Kage cannot be sullied!"
"Even if I die here, I will drag you to hell with me!"
With a fierce glare, the killing intent radiated from the Kazekage was palpable even from hundreds of meters away.
Aizen, unfazed, smiled lightly and said, "Oh, so you've made your choice. What a pity."
He lowered his eyes slightly and continued, "Once, a ninja like you said something similar to me. Because of a moment's carelessness, I nearly lost my life."
"So, Third Kazekage, let's see if your strength can match your words, compared to Hanzo the Salamander."
The Kazekage's expression darkened further, realizing that Hanzo had fallen to this man.
Aizen stood calmly, watching the wary Kazekage, and spoke softly, "Aren't you going to attack, Kazekage?"
"If I strike first, you might not get the chance."
The Kazekage's eyes turned cold as he waved his hand, commanding the iron sand to form a tight defensive barrier around him.
"Under this absolute defense, your illusions are meaningless. Let's see who dies today!"
