The wars in the ninja world were undoubtedly a significant cause of displacement for villagers from various nations.
As the war between Konoha and the Hidden Rain Village broke out seven years ago, the continent, which had barely maintained peace, began to fall into turmoil.
The course of the war started to take an increasingly mysterious turn due to certain inexplicable factors.
Four years ago, after the Hidden Stone Village declared its participation in the war, the situation underwent subtle changes. In the second year of the Hidden Stone Village's involvement in the war, the Hidden Cloud Village launched an attack on the Hidden Stone Village. This move left Ōnoki, the Tsuchikage, almost furious, cursing the Third Raikage through gritted teeth.
Under such circumstances, the Hidden Stone Village had no choice but to adopt a conservative strategy, and the covert shinobi who had been lying low for three years were instantly rendered ineffective.
It was quite evident that the Hidden Stone Village's advantage between Konoha, Suna, and the Hidden Rain Village had vanished in an instant.
On the other hand, Konoha Village could still be considered a powerful village. During this period, many heroes emerged, and the new generation of Konoha ninja began to display their strengths.
On the battlefield in Suna, Hatake Sakumo, with his incredibly sharp swordsmanship, gained a formidable reputation and even earned the title "Konoha's White Fang." The mere mention of "Konoha's White Fang" struck fear into the hearts of Suna ninja.
Only two young people could make the Suna ninja react like that.
Meanwhile, on the battlefield in the Hidden Rain Village, Tsunade developed medical ninjutsu and proposed the inclusion of medical ninjas in mission teams, even suggesting the establishment of a medical ninja training system in Konoha. Her ideas were undoubtedly supported by Konoha ninja, and Tsunade's name became prominent.
Like Tsunade, the other two disciples of the Third Hokage also excelled.
Both Jiraiya and Orochimaru found their respective ninja paths and continued to advance, surpassing others in strength. They gained considerable fame in the Hidden Rain and Hidden Sand Villages.
In other battlefields, Dan Kato harvested the lives of countless Rain and Sand ninja with his self-created ninja technique, the "Spirit Transformation Technique." This jutsu allowed him to traverse great distances and kill enemies, becoming a nightmare for his foes.
But what was truly feared were those crimson eyes—Shino Uchiha. In these four years, Shino had killed countless Sand and Rain ninja, earning himself the moniker "Shura" from both the Sand and Rain ninja. He was considered a fearsome "Shura" alongside Konoha's White Fang.
However, there was one shadow that was different from the many new generations.
In these four years, Sōsuke had remained unusually quiet.
Located at the border between the Land of Earth and the Land of Fire, there was only one instance when he had demonstrated his power.
No one knew what he had been up to, and everything about him remained shrouded in mystery.
....
Within the Land of Wind.
Golden sand stretched endlessly, rolling in the wind and dissipating between heaven and earth.
In this land covered by golden sand, there stood a picturesque building.
Inside the Hidden Sand Village.
Within a quaint and quiet little house, a child with fluffy red hair was standing by a table, playing with puppet parts. His young face, however, showed no emotion.
"Creak!"
The door slowly opened.
"Sasori, Grandma's back," a middle-aged woman walked in slowly, speaking gently.
"Hmm..." Sasori, upon hearing the sound, still showed little emotion on his young face and nodded slightly, speaking softly.
Seeing Sasori tinkering with the puppet parts on the table, the middle-aged woman hesitated for a moment and ultimately said nothing.
"Grandma brought your favorite chewy candy, Sasori. Please have some," Chiyo said kindly to Sasori, despite his cold demeanor.
Hearing Chiyo's words, Sasori raised his head slightly, looking at the chewy candy in her hand with his still young and innocent eyes. His face remained blank.
Soon after, Sasori's expressionless face flushed slightly, and within moments, tears as big as beans welled up in his eyes, slowly streaming down.
"Drip, drip..."...
The tears fell slowly to the ground.
Seeing this scene, Chiyo gradually lost her smile, her expression turning lonely.
"Father... Mother... Are they never coming back again?" Sasori let his tears flow freely, looking at Chiyo with his big, red, teary eyes, and sobbing in his childlike voice.
"Forgive me, Sasori... Grandma should never have let your parents participate in the battlefield," Chiyo said, her eyes dimming and her voice slightly hoarse.
Hearing her words, Gaara finally couldn't hold back, and he suddenly burst into tears.
"Gr-Grandma... I miss my father and mother... Sasori doesn't want chewy candy anymore... Can you bring them back, please..." He clung to Chiyo's waist, his face soaked in tears, and cried out in pain.
Hearing Sasori's childlike words, Chiyo's eyes also turned slightly red. She hugged Sasori tightly and gently stroked his mop of red hair.
They remained silent for a long time.
In the room, there was only the sound of Sasori's sobbing.
After crying for a long time, Sasori slowly fell asleep.
Chiyo gently lifted her grandson's body and carefully placed him on the bed, covering him with a blanket.
Then, she walked into the living room alone.
Seeing the chewy candy on the floor, Chiyo's eyes were filled with a deep sense of desolation.
She walked slowly to the table and looked at a sparkling set of puppet parts placed on it.
A complex light flashed in her eyes.
....
At the border between the Land of Fire and the Land of Earth.
Outside a hidden base.
Compared to his previous youthful appearance, Sōsuke had completely grown into a tall young man, calmly walking here.
"Captain Sōsuke!"
Every ninja who saw Sōsuke would respectfully greet him, their eyes filled with admiration.
Even the first leader of this base, Tsukikage Shingo, couldn't command such respect.
The reason Sōsuke received such reverence here was due to the attack by the Hidden Stone Village two years ago!
Two years ago, on a night like this!
The Hidden Stone Village attacked!
Faced with numerous Hidden Leaf ninja bases hidden in the forest!
Several Hidden Stone ninja had combined their efforts to use an S-rank jutsu!
"Earth Release: Earth Mountain Technique!"
The Hidden Leaf ninja could never forget that scene!
Enormous rocks as huge as mountains pressed against the Hidden Leaf's base in the forest from both sides, blocking out the sky and moonlight.
This was a jutsu that seemed beyond human capability!
