Chapter 26 - The Dragon and Wyverns

In the courtyard of the Palace, Maximus alongside Olorin and Eonwe was standing patiently waiting while in front of them appeared 11 massive, winged creatures. 10 of them were Wyverns and they were the size of what the Targaryens considered to be dragons.

Meanwhile one of them was a true dragon, its size was massive and it could probably be seen from outside the Palace walls. Black or dark grey colored dragon with glowing green eyes.

The Wyverns were a variety of colors and is generally the size of what was considered a dragon in this world. In front of Maximus appeared a screen which showed him the description of the dragon and wyverns. The Dragon itself was a female and could lay up to 2 eggs a year that would be guaranteed to hatch so long as they are taken care of.

She didn't come with a name so Maximus had decided to name her Nyxara meaning "Night's Shadow" in reference to her dark color which will make her blend in with the night.

As he named her, his right arm had immediately experienced an immense pain causing him to grab a hold of it and fall to one knee. Olorin and Eonwe had rushed over to see what was going on only to notice a magic engraving of sorts that was forming on his right arm.

That's when the Nyxara had leaned her head down to close to the ground where Maximus was causing Olorin and Eonwe to step back. They had guessed that the cause of his pain was from the tattoo and that the tattoo was caused by the massive dragon in front of them. Not only that, but they could also sense that the dragon was a creature of great intelligence, and wisdom and held no ill will towards their lord.

As the Nyxara's head neared Maximus, almost instinctively his arm had stretched out and touched Nyxara's head causing the tattoo on his arm to glow with a bright color.

The glow from the tattoo slowly subsided, leaving behind a detailed mark that seemed almost to pulsate with a life of its own. The pain went away as well, replaced by a connection between Maximus and Nyxara, a magic binding that linked them together.

"My Lord," Nyxara spoke surprising Maximus as this was his first experience seeing a Dragon speak in real life. "It's a pleasure to serve you and to be part of your grand vision. I sense the greatness of your spirit and the boundless potential of what we can achieve together."

Maximus, recovering from the initial shock and regaining his composure, stood up straight, facing the majestic creature with a newfound respect and fascination. "Nyxara," he began, his voice steady and imbued with a mix of awe and command, "your presence honors us. Together, we will expand this empire beyond the known borders and bring order and prosperity."

Nyxara bowed her massive head slightly in acknowledgment. "As you wish, my Lord. My loyalty is yours, and my fire will defend your realm against all who dare challenge your authority."

Standing in front of Nyxara, Maximus couldn't help but feel in awe because of her size. But now that the pain was over, he returned to looking at the description that the system provided. For the Wyverns they were all indeed not the normal Wyverns of the Game of thrones world, but different Wyverns that were much greater.

5 of them were female and the other 5 were males, allowing him to gain more Wyverns without having to spend system points. Each female could lay up to 10 eggs per year which is a significant factor that will make the Wyverns become a common thing within his Empire.

After looking at their description he had Olorin and Eonwe pick out their own Wyvern as a gift for their loyalty and service. Olorin chose a fiery red Wyvern, reminiscent of the blazing sun, while Eonwe chose one with scales that shimmered like the clear blue sky. Both creatures bowed their heads in respect to their new riders, acknowledging the bond that was now forming.

Later he would give one to Alexander as well since as the future High Marshal, a Wyvern would only bolster his capabilities on the battlefield. But now he also needed caretakers for Nyxara and the other Wyverns, so he browsed the system and found the perfect candidates: a group of dragon tamers for 5,000 system points. The group had 20 members, each an expert in different aspects of draconic care, diet, training, health, and magic integration.

The Dragon tamers had appeared in front of him, and he gave them the rundown of their duties and such. They were given a large area in the Northern part of the Palace where the Wyverns would stay while Nyxara had wanted to remain by Maximus's side.

He didn't mind but he told her just to be careful and not accidently kill anybody. Not that she would on purpose, but her sheer size and strength made it a legitimate concern. Nyxara seemed to understand, nodding her massive head solemnly.

Maximus spent the rest of the day going through his system to buy something with the 54,150 System points that he had at the moment. The first thing he looked at was improving the current technology that he had available to him; while severely lacking in comparison to modern earth, this world did have magic among other things that existed.

The perfect race for producing technology, combined with magic were dwarves. Not only could they use magic but runes as well which significantly enhanced any device they crafted. Considering their skills, Maximus opted to purchase a large number of Dwarven engineers.

They costed much more than buying a human, but it was worth it considering their capabilities. One Dwarven Engineer costed 15 system points, so Maximus bought 500 of them for 7,500 system points. They would become the backbone of his empire's technology capability allowing to make, magic airships, magic trains, and other advanced weaponry that could change the face of warfare in his world.

After that he looked to buy high elf specifically the ones from the Lord of rings because of their archery skills and profound wisdom in forest lore and magic, which would be invaluable for both defense and expansion of his empire. High Elf, being keen-sighted and nimble, would make excellent scouts as well as formidable warriors on the battlefield. Priced at 20 system points each, Maximus purchased 500 High Elf Spearmen for 10,000 system points.

Next was soldiers for the formation of his Imperial Guard, the ones who were sworn to protect him and house and carry out his orders. There were hundreds of things to choose from, some more expensive than others, but all very good for the role of an Imperial Guard. And he planned to have various different soldiers for his Imperial Guard.

For Cavalry the Byzantine Cataphracts were the most affordable and could be used in large numbers for his own Legion as well as an Imperial Guard. Spartan Hoplites were also affordable highly disciplined infantry known for their phalanx formations and unwavering bravery.

There was the Wardens of the white tower, which was another Gondor type soldier but more powerful than the Gondor infantry that he currently had.

Next was the Myrmidons who were very strong soldiers commanded by Achilles himself in the myths of old. Known for their ferocity and loyalty, they would make a formidable addition to his guard. There were a lot to choose from and he planned to create a very diverse Imperial Guard that is able to handle any type of situation.
