Chapter 27 - Chapter 27

In the heart of the dungeon, the relentless cycle continued. The Earth and Fire Golems emerged time and time again, their regenerative abilities proving to be a constant challenge for Kai and Alpha. Each time, they devised new strategies, trying to outmaneuver the seemingly unconquerable creatures. But no matter what they tried, the Golems kept reassembling themselves, ready for another round of battle.

As the relentless battle wore on, Alpha's icy breath weakened, his undead form gradually depleting of mana. Kai noticed the strain on his companion and knew that they couldn't keep this up indefinitely. They needed a different approach, a way to end this perpetual cycle of defeat and revival.

Amidst the intense battle, Kai's eyes caught a glimpse of something peculiar—a lever-like device hanging from the side corner of the chamber. It was connected to a small fang-like object, which seemed to be controlling the Golems like puppets.

Curiosity piqued, Kai acted swiftly. Utilizing his shadowmeld ability, he stealthily made his way toward the corner of the dungeon. There, he found a platypus-like creature, its beady eyes focused intently on the video game controller-like device it held in its hands.

Without hesitation, Kai struck, driving his bone daggers into the creature's heart. The platypus-like being let out a feeble cry before collapsing to the ground. As its lifeless body lay still, the video game controller slipped from its grip, falling to the floor with a clatter.

With the creature dead, an eerie silence fell upon the chamber. The Earth and Fire Golems, controlled by the fallen creature's device, halted their movements. Their eyes dimmed, and they remained motionless, their regenerative powers no longer at play.

Kai's heart pounded with a mixture of relief and triumph. He had found the source of the Golems' revival, the key to breaking the cycle of their relentless attacks.

As the message "Dungeon cleared and conquered" flashed before his eyes, Kai sank to the floor, exhaustion and elation washing over him. He looked at Alpha, who had taken a more substantial form once more, his mana no longer being drained.

"We did it, Alpha," Kai said, a smile gracing his face. "We conquered the dungeon."

Alpha let out a satisfied rumble, his eyes reflecting the same pride and satisfaction that Kai felt. They had faced an unprecedented challenge, one that had pushed them to their limits, but they had emerged victorious.

As Kai explored the spoils of war, he felt a tinge of disappointment when he discovered that the Earth and Fire Golems couldn't be made undead like the lizardmen. However, his attention soon shifted to a curious-looking key-like object lying near the creature he had killed.

Picking up the strange key, he studied it closely, searching for clues as to what it might unlock. His instincts told him that this key was significant, and he was determined to uncover its purpose. He began searching the chamber, examining every nook and cranny, trying to find a keyhole that matched the peculiar shape of the object.

For hours, Kai meticulously searched, utilizing his necromantic powers to animate any dead creatures he could find to aid in the quest. But no matter how hard he tried, the creature that controlled the golems refused to be resurrected.

Frustration gnawed at him as he contemplated why this particular creature resisted his abilities. Yet, amidst his failure, a glimmer of hope appeared. The lizardmen informed Kai that they had found a keyhole concealed within the wall of the chamber.

Excitement surged through Kai's veins as he followed the lizardmen's lead to the hidden keyhole. He slid the key inside, turning it with anticipation. With a subtle click, the wall opened, revealing an entire hidden laboratory.

The room was filled with blueprints and schematics scattered on tables and workbenches. Unfinished golems stood silently, awaiting completion. The sight was overwhelming, and Kai could barely believe his eyes.

The lab seemed like a treasure trove of knowledge and resources. He noticed several finished golems, missing only their cores. It was as if the creator had left them in that state, preserving their potential for some unknown purpose.

Kai recognized the immense value of this discovery. These blueprints and golems could be a tremendous asset in his journey to become a more formidable Necromancer. With newfound determination, he decided to take everything with him, including the blueprints, unfinished golems, and the cores required to complete them.

But the question remained – how could he carry such a substantial amount of resources with him? That's when his sharp eyes caught sight of a sub-space ring, lying amidst the blueprints. A sub-space ring was a rare and powerful item capable of storing vast quantities of objects within its pocket dimension.

Eagerly, Kai put the blueprints and the cores inside the sub-space ring. He found it astonishing how much it could hold, like a spacious villa within the confines of a tiny ring.

With the sub-space ring secured, he left the dungeon, making sure to keep his discovery a secret. He knew that the contents of the lab were far too valuable to be shared with anyone else, especially those who might use them for nefarious purposes.

Back in the outside world, Kai felt a sense of exhilaration mixed with relief. The dungeon conquest and the discovery of the hidden lab had elevated his status as a talented Necromancer. However, he knew that the journey ahead would be fraught with challenges.

Now equipped with the knowledge and resources he acquired, Kai set his sights on further honing his necromantic abilities. He spent hours studying the blueprints and experimenting with the unfinished golems, learning the intricacies of their design and how to imbue them with power. But he couldn't.
