The next morning, before the alarm even went off, Colneth was the first to wake up. Dalgliesh, who had slept beside him, had already left, and everything seemed to have returned to normal. Except for... the slightly crumpled bedsheets from their activities the night before and the lingering residue inside.
Because Colneth was afraid of making too much noise, he had firmly refused to let Dalgliesh bring his bedsheets over last night. He had only moved to a different spot, feeling Dalgliesh's warmth, and soon drifted off to sleep without knowing when the man had left.
Colneth smoothed out the bedsheets several times after getting up, making sure that no one could notice anything unusual before feeling a bit more at ease.
When he left the dormitory to prepare for morning exercises, the first person Colneth saw was Dalgliesh, leaning against the dormitory door, giving him a gentle glance.
"Captain Etherton, good morning."
