Sun Honghai is different from Sun Hongyang.
Sun Hongyang is a good-for-nothing, without any self-awareness, trying to pursue Song Qingya and covet the position of Family Head.
Sun Honghai does have some capabilities; most of the time, his actions and behaviors are in the interests of the Sun Family and he doesn't cause trouble for the family like Sun Hongyang constantly does.
For his older brother, Sun Honghai also has a great deal of respect and has no intention of vying for the position of Family Head.
So for Sun Honghai, Sun Hongjiang still felt that he should be saved.
Doing so was also to prevent the younger members of the Sun Family from becoming disheartened.
Sun Hongyang was ruined by Song Qingya. His pursuit of Song Qingya was in itself a display of his lack of self-awareness.
