Chapter 29 - Embracing Hope

Oriana slowly opened her eyes, her vision blurry and her head throbbing. Confusion washed over her as she tried to recall what had transpired.

"Ugh, what happened?" she murmured, her voice weak and filled with disorientation. As her gaze shifted, she saw Gunner with his left arm bandaged, Milky Cow and Robin wounded. The sight of her friends injured sent shockwaves through her, and she couldn't bear to witness their suffering.

Worry and fear consumed Oriana as she realized Lexus was nowhere to be seen. Desperate to find him and seek solace in his presence, she frantically searched the room. The concern in her voice was palpable as she questioned, "Where's Lexus?"

Milky Cow, Robin, and the others breathed a collective sigh of relief as Oriana finally regained consciousness. Exhaustion rendered them unable to express their words, but their relieved expressions spoke volumes. Oriana's panic only heightened their shared concern.

Oriana, still overwhelmed by the situation, rushed through the kitchen room, hoping to find Lexus there. To her surprise, she discovered Lexus preparing a meal and brewing coffee. His presence brought instant relief, and Oriana's heart skipped a beat.

Upon spotting Oriana, Lexus's expression shifted from worry to sheer relief. A warm smile spread across his face, and he couldn't contain his joy. "Thank God you're awake now!" he exclaimed, his voice filled with genuine relief.

Oriana was momentarily speechless, her eyes fixated on Lexus's bare chest and the minimal wounds that adorned his body. In that moment, she found him incredibly manly and attractive. Her heart swelled with happiness as Lexus embraced her tightly, their connection bringing comfort and reassurance.

As Lexus released his hold on Oriana, she found herself overwhelmed by emotions. Subconsciously, she leaned forward and kissed him on the lips, a spontaneous expression of her affection and gratitude. The unexpected gesture left Lexus stunned, momentarily frozen in surprise.

Regaining his composure, Lexus gently lifted Oriana and settled her on the kitchen chair, their eyes locked in a silent understanding. The room fell into a serene stillness as the sun began to rise, casting its warm rays and illuminating the once-dark days they had endured.

As the aroma of fresh coffee filled the air, their surroundings became a sanctuary—a place where wounds could heal, and love could flourish. The kitchen room witnessed their intimate connection, a testament to their resilience and the unyielding strength of their bond.

A moment later, Milky Cow and Gunner observed Oriana, trying to contain her happiness while struggling to hide the smile on her face. Robin, ever observant, sensed that something was going on and couldn't help but suspect that Oriana might be Lexus' love interest.

Oriana, determined to keep her newfound romance a secret, composed herself and decided to focus on serving breakfast and coffee to her friends. She knew they needed to regain their energy after the intense battle they had endured.

Just as she finished serving, Lexus returned to the room and took his seat in the monitor area. "Hey, guys, have a good breakfast," he greeted them with a warm smile. They nodded in appreciation and thanked Lexus for the delicious meal.

As they conversed with Lexus, their attention was momentarily drawn to his back, where red scratch marks were visible. It was evident that Oriana had left her mark, and Milky Cow and Gunner couldn't resist teasing her.

Gunner chuckled and playfully remarked, "It looks like the Queen of locksmiths unlocked something new."

Milky Cow joined in, grinning mischievously. "The ship is sailing!"

Robin, catching onto the lighthearted banter, chimed in. "She's quite a bad girl, Lexus. You lucky bastard."

Oriana blushed, her attempt to hide her joy crumbling as laughter filled the room. She playfully swatted Gunner and Milky Cow, embarrassed yet secretly thrilled that her blossoming relationship with Lexus had not gone unnoticed.

Moments later, as they finished their breakfast, the team gathered for a discussion about their next course of action. The weight of their mission and the urgency of their situation hung heavy in the air.

Lexus, taking charge of the conversation, spoke with determination. "It's morning now. We can sneak into the patrol cars in the garage. There are 16 police cars there, but I assume Melton John has sabotaged most of them, making it impossible for us to leave."

Robin, ever resourceful, offered a solution. "I have an old truck. I used it to come here on day one. I hid it so Chief Melton wouldn't notice that we were buying liquor with my Top Floor team."

Lexus nodded approvingly. "Good job, Robin. Now let's put it to good use. Malapag City is about 6 kilometers away from here."

Turning his attention to the injured Gunner, Lexus made a decision. "Robin, please take Prince Gunner to the hospital now. Let him leave this place. I don't want him to die here. I trust you."

Robin readily agreed, understanding the gravity of the situation. "Roger that, Lexus."

Lexus continued, addressing Robin. "Please call for backup. We need help. Our situation is dire, and we can't face the remaining dolls alone."

Gunner, feeling a sense of guilt and helplessness, spoke up. "I'm sorry, guys. I can't do anything to help you now. But don't worry, I'll do anything to help you back someday. Milky Cow, please take care of Oriana and Lexus."

Milky Cow, standing tall with determination, reassured Gunner. "Don't worry, Gunner. As long as I'm around, I'll protect them with everything I've got."

Gunner looked at Lexus, his voice filled with concern. "Officer Lexus, please don't let our little sister die. Got that?"

Lexus met Gunner's gaze, determination burning in his eyes. "Got that, Gunner. I won't let anything happen to Oriana."

With their roles defined and their plan set in motion, Robin swiftly arranged for transportation. Using his truck, he prepared to take the injured Gunner to the hospital in Malapag City, their only hope for proper medical attention.

The team shared a moment of silent solidarity before parting ways temporarily. They knew the path ahead was treacherous, and sacrifices would have to be made. But their bond and their shared purpose would keep them strong, even in the face of overwhelming odds.

And so, as Robin drove away with Gunner in tow, the remaining team members stood united, their resolve unyielding. They were determined to face whatever lay ahead, ready to fight for their survival and for the safety of those they held dear.
