When I arrived at my room, Mark was already waiting for me. With a worried look he asked, "Didn't it work?"
I sighed and replied, "Yes, it did work. But time seems to stand still when I switch back and forth between the fantasy world and the real world."
Mark looked thoughtful. "So that means you were actually in a fantasy world during the meeting."
I nodded enthusiastically and began to tell Mark about my adventures. I described the exciting battles in which I honed my skills and learned new skills. I shared my triumphs and challenges with him and explained the importance of each skill I acquired.
When I mentioned the masked opponent, I saw a mixture of fascination and determination in Mark's eyes.
"What now?" asked Mark.
"I'm not sure. What do you suggest?"
"We, meaning you, should level up and give this guy a good fight," Mark suggested.
While I was still thinking about how to get stronger in the zombie world, I noticed a new lottery ticket in my Dimensions skill. This meant I could unlock a new world. The perfect opportunity to get stronger. Plus, with the Dimensions skill level-up came something else.
"Would you like to come along?", I asked.
"Huh?" replied Mark.
"Yeah, it says I can take two cubic meters," I explained to him. "But I have no idea what happens to living matter, let alone people who should have a soul."
"Yes, yes, yes, I'll risk it. Before you build a harem there all by yourself. Later I'll write a book, 'My Isekai Life with My Colleague,'" Mark joked.
I thought about it carefully. Mark always seemed like a good guy to me, with a strong sense of justice. I extended my hand to him, which he shook without hesitation. I transferred some nanites to him, along with a raw version of Nori.
"Woooooow, thank you. You already know you've given me a lot of responsibility. I hope I won't let you down," Mark said.
"I hope so too," I replied to him.
So we packed our " bag ". Since we were traveling into the unknown, we decided to be prepared for any danger. And two cubic meters is already quite a lot. A bottle of oxygen, warm and summer clothes, firearms and swords.
We spent the rest of the day putting together our equipment. Since we didn't lack money, we decided to just order everything we needed. We selected medicines, bandages, and even a small first aid kit. One could never know what to expect in the new world.
Mark suggested we take some food with us as well. "We don't know what kind of food there is, or if we'll even find anything edible," he argued. So we ordered shelf-stable foods like canned meat, dried fruit and nuts.
Instead of taking physical books, I decided to download digital versions. I selected a number of books and guidebooks that I thought would be useful. These included survival manuals, books on botany and wildlife, as well as some of my favorite novels. I saved these explicitly as text rather than just information, to preserve the reading experience.
We also ordered a selection of modern and medieval weapons to prepare for all possible scenarios. When the deliveries arrived, we looked at our equipment. It was a strange mix of modern technology, traditional weapons and everyday items. But it felt right. It felt like we were ready for whatever was coming.
"So, are you ready?", I asked him again.
"Yes, I'm ready. Let's do this."
With those words, I threw Mark into my Dimensional Storage. He disappeared in a flash of light, and I could feel his weight being added to my Storage.
Then I activated my Dimensional Skill.
