A snap of the fingers came. Ina guessed Kier had disappeared.
"What is he?" Her voice echoed off the walls of the cavern. "I don't understand what in Albiel's tormented sleep he is."
"Are you alright?" asked Mint.
"I don't—it's him—I'm fine. Why is he so strong? How can he kill his sister and still be sane? He could have just given up. Give in, surrender. By Dit, how is he in as much control and doing the things he does? Reasoning with a Shadow? Finding the first Druid's home? Seeking Dragons to learn Runes no one should know? What is he?"
"Is crazy guy gone?" Irel said.
Ina turned to her, worried that what Kier said or the things she was blurting out scared the little girl.
"No dear. He'll be right back."
"I guess it's because he is crazy guy," said Mint. "Crazy is how he stays in control. How he vents and deals with all that's happened to him."
Ina blinked repeatedly, realizing the truth in Mint's words.
"I guess it's why he wants to kiss you to calm his mind," said the white fox.
