The group reappeared in a city square. The long shadows of the buildings surrounding the open space dropped on a cobbled floor. It only took Ina a quick glance at the shops selling bat's wings, mushrooms, and preserved toad's eyes to know where they were.
"Oh, damn you to Albiel's ire." She lowered her head to cover her face with her hair.
The few people walking in the square within earshot turned to look at them.
"Hey," said Kier, "remember when you wanted to eat me, Medes? When I made you big?"
"Yes."
"Why is everyone looking at me like you did then?" The Mage took a look around. He raised an eyebrow in confusion. "Why are all these people women?"
