"I didn't know Mages could make Familiars," said Ina. "Witches have to search for them."
"Mages couldn't make Familiars," said Medes. "But Druids could."
"What?"
"It's my favorite story," said Medes. "A Draoix story, actually, of how he invented a potion to awaken a wolf to be his Familiar. Kier discovered how to make the potion and awakened me. The fact that he could make the potion with Component Magic is why he suspected you could also use Rune Magic as well."
"That can't be. No one has been able to recreate Droix's work. His feats are just stories."
"Stories Kier heeded."
Ina stared at Kier, his sleeping face. What Medes told her was impossible. Yet, she caught herself squeezing her fists, wishing this was all true. She took in air, but held it for a bit before speaking.
"The story tells that Broim, the wolf, almost killed Draoix when the Druid awakened him."
"I think Kier told you I ravaged his arm when we met."
