Already under the sleep of the concoction Ina prepared for her, Athyn thrashed within the dome of wooden vines the eldest of Gnarls caged her in. Ina sat near, facing the dome, rocking almost imperceptibly to and fro.
"You have gone through this," stated the Vierais.
"It's what the Druids used to do as initiation," said Ina. "There were no accounts of it, of the dreams, and I didn't think much of it when I did it. I woke up and saw the marks of my own nails in my skin, and I had bruises from thrashing about and destroying my workshop."
"What you do and what you did is very noble in my eyes, Druid. I thank you for all that hardship you must have endured."
"She told me I screamed." Ina looked blankly at the floor. "My Familiar, she told me I screamed so much. And my voice was hoarse for a week."
