Suddenly they heard a big thud on the door. Knowing what it is, Nazir quickly get himself together, he opened the window and turned to his sister.
"Come on, Nadine! We gotta jump!"
He knew that he had to do something to save their lives. The only option he could think of was to jump out of the 2nd-floor window to escape. But Nadine was terrified, and Nazir knew he had to convince her that jumping was their only chance.
Nazir had already made the jump himself, despite the pain he felt in his right ankle as he landed. He knew that Nadine was not likely to make the jump unless he convinced her that it was their only hope of survival. He looked up at her through the window and pleaded with her to trust him.
"Nadine we have to do this," he said, trying to sound calm and reassuring. "There's no other way. We have to jump and run."
Nadine was looking back at him, tears streaming down her face as she shook her head in fear. "I can't...I just can't," she said, trembling with fear.
Nazir knew that he had to convince her that there was no other way out. "Listen to me, Nadine. We can't stay here. Those things are going to get in there any minute. If you don't jump, they will kill you. You have to try. You have to trust me."
Nadine was still shaking her head, and Nazir knew that he had to come up with a plan to convince her to jump.
"Nadine, listen here," He said in a serious voice, trying to sound calm as well. "We have to find Rami, he's still hadn't come home, meaning he's out there somewhere, probably fighting for his life. We have to go and help him!"
Nazir could see a glimmer of hope in her eyes. "But what if I get hurt?" she asked him.
He knew that this was a possibility, but he also knew that they had no other choice. "You might get hurt, but we'll survive. Together. I promise you."
He could see her taking deep breaths, trying to calm herself down. Nazir kept talking, trying to focus on the task at hand.
She nodded, the fear in her eyes slowly being replaced by determination. She took a deep breath and stepped up onto the windowsill.
Nazir held his arms out to her and shouted, "Jump! I'm here. I won't let anything happen to you."
She took the leap, and for a moment, Nazir was terrified that she wouldn't make it. But then he felt her body in his arms, and he knew that they had made it.
They hit the ground with a thud, the pain shooting through Nazir's ankle again. But they had escaped the house, and they were alive.
As they ran down the street, away from the zombies, Nazir felt a surge of pride.
It wasn't until they reached a place away from the zombies that Nazir realized the full extent of his injury. His ankle was badly bruised, and he could barely walk. He knew that he needed medical attention, but not now. He wasn't even sure he could find a doctor now, no, rather he wasn't sure he could find a doctor that would be willing to help him now.
Nadine could see the pain on her brother's face and knew that he needed help. "We have to find a doctor. You need help," she said, her voice full of concern.
Nazir smiled at her and put his hand on her shoulder. "I'm fine for now. But as I said, we have to find Rami first, after that, I can get help."
Nadine smiled at him, and they continued down the street, holding onto each other.
------------------------------
Nazir and Nadine had been walking through the streets for half an hour now, trying their best to stay undetected from the zombies. They were getting hungry and thirsty as well, they knew they had to get some supplies. The siblings quietly and carefully walked down the street, constantly scanning their surroundings and listening for any signs of the undead.
As they turned a corner, they came upon a street that was infested with zombies. Six of the undead creatures were shuffling toward them, their drooling mouths agape, their dead eyes focused on their prey. Nazir and Nadine knew they had to get through that street to reach their destination, but the zombies were blocking their path.
Nazir's heart sank as he looked at his sister. They both knew that their only chance of survival was if they stayed quiet and kept moving. But something told Nazir that this was not going to go as planned. He had a feeling that things were about to go horribly wrong.
As they continued to walk slowly, keeping their heads down and their eyes peeled, Nazir suddenly felt a sharp pain shoot through his right ankle. He stumbled, almost falling to the ground, but managed to catch himself before he hit the pavement.
Nadine looked at her brother in concern, noticing the grimace on his face. "Are you okay?" she whispered, her eyes flickering toward the group of zombies.
Nazir shook his head, gritting his teeth against the pain. His eyes focused on the approaching zombies. "We need to get through here before they corner us."
Nadine nodded, her eyes scanning the street for any sign of escape. But there was none. They were trapped.
Nazir's heart raced as he looked at his sister. He knew what he had to do.
He picked up a wrench from the ground, his fingers gripping it tightly. With a deep breath, he rushed forward toward the group of zombies, swinging the wrench at the closest one's head.
The zombie fell to the ground, its skull cracking open from the impact. Nazir felt a surge of adrenaline as he continued to swing the wrench, hitting each zombie in the head with deadly accuracy.
Nadine watched in horror as her brother killed the six zombies, his face twisted in anger and fear. When it was over, Nazir stood there panting, the wrench still gripped tightly in his hand.
For a moment, Nazir felt a sense of pride in what he had done. He had managed to kill six zombies with his bare hands. But then a wave of guilt washed over him like a tidal wave.
These zombies were once human beings who had families, friends, and loved ones. They had dreams and aspirations, just like Nazir and Nadine. Seeing them now in this state made Nazir feel a deep sense of sadness.
As the adrenaline started to fade, Nazir realized that he had badly bruised his right ankle. He could feel the pain throbbing with each step he took. But he knew that he couldn't afford to show any weakness. So, he took a deep breath and began to walk again, heading toward their destination.
Nadine knew that her brother was in pain, but she said nothing. She knew that they had to keep moving forward, no matter what.
