Chapter 1 - 01

The sounds of birds chirping, singing their beautiful melodies was an alarm for the beginning of the day to many.

As early as 5:30, the streets of various towns and cities around the world were already busy with people going about their daily lives.

In a rundown street at Silver Lane town, one of the most prosperous towns in Silver Lake City, a boy stumble out of a small house.

He had a rather small body frame, with bangs of his blondish white hair hanging over his eyes, leaving everyone wondering if he could actually see through them. Although he was lean, he was blessed with hight and in looks.

The boy does a few warm up exercises and after five minutes, proceed to jug around the small house.

Like this, time slowly passed and he only stopped his exercises after an hour.

This is Glenn Beck, a fifteen years old with a goal.

Glenn, after his exercises, went back into the house to take a quick bath then went to his brother's room next to his to wake up the boy.

A younger boy, about five or six, sat up on the old bed, rubbing his eyes with his hand. He yawned.

"Big bros, is it morning already?" he asked

"Yep. Better get up now or you'll be late for school" Glenn replied and ruffles the boy's hair

The two siblings could be called identify twins if they were of same age. The only noticable difference in their appearance is the the younger boy didn't have his hair over his eyes. Except from that, they might as well be the same person.

After a couple of minutes, the two were finally dressed, had a plate of rice and vegetables for breakfast and went out of the house.

Glen had, like his hair, a very light skin color and under the morning sun, he was almost shining.

First, the younger one was dropped off at his pre-elementary school and he quickly reunite with his friends after the holiday.

Next, Glenn walked to his own school. It was a forty minutes walk and the best option was to have taken the bus however someone like Glen didn't have the money to take one.

Besides, the walk to school was calming and the trees and small animals around were nice distractions.

TITLE: PROLOGUE

The school ground of Silver Lane Mixed High School was busting with voices of chatting and laughing students.

The large blue and wine colored building of the school, big enough to fit over five hundred students was almost filled to it's capacity.

Unlike last year, this year more people were getting admitted into the school and this has caused some trouble for those registering the students in.

There were no criteria for getting an admission in SLMHS (Silver Lane Mixed High School). In fact, in the whole city, SLMHS was the only school who accept student of different backgrounds, race and ability. As a first year, on didn't need to take any exam to be admitted.

Even though the admission process has been on for almost two months, there were still a bee hive of students who are trying to register today.

Glenn looked up from the novel he was reading, his eyes briefly scanning through the crowd. He quietly returned to reading, not minding the noise around.

Those who didn't register on time only had themselves to blame now.

He, himself, had completed his admission procedure during the holiday.

The fist bell if the day was soon rung and those who were already students of Silver Lane Mixed High School, SLMH School for short, went into their assigned classrooms.

Glenn picked up his school bag in one hand and the other held the book which he continued to read as he walked into the school building.

He was registered as a student of Class 1a and that's were he went.

The wide classroom had ten desks arranged in it, two rolls with five desks and five columns with two desks.

Lockers were arranged at the back of the classroom as wells as a raised platform with a long desk for the teacher.

Although there were no fans or air-conditioners in sight, the classroom was cold.

Glenn slowly walked to a desk next to the window. He was the first to enter the class. After keeping his bag, he walked to the lockers and chose the one he wants, taking the key back to his seat.

The door opened again and other students began to walk in.

When everyone was in, a girl dressed in the school's uniform like everyone else, a wine color plated skirt, blue button shirt, black leggings and black shoes, went to the from if the classroom.

She had hip length chestnut brown hair and matching eyes. Small brown dots scattered across her cheeks.

Glenn briefly looked up his book and examined her. She had the kind of look people would consider cute and worth protecting

"Hello everyone, it's nice to meet all of you." She said with a big bright smile making her eyes shine like stars

She got a lots of his and hello's and nice to meet you too from the new class mates and like that's all everyone need, people began talking to each other.

The tension among them quickly melted and they were conversing quite comfortably with each other.

"Hey, let's get to know each other before the teacher comes in" someone else said loudly and everyone turned to him

"I'll go first. My name is Sam McCarthy and I'm sixteen. I'm hoping to awaken an ice attribute unlike the rest of my family who are all fire attribute awakened. I hope we get along well" the boy, Sam said with a small bow at the end

Glenn expression was blank however he couldn't help but sigh in his mind. 'Your whole family are fire attribute awakened. How could you possibly awaken ice attribute?' he thought to himself

However, he knew this world was full of strange things. It wasn't a hundred percent impossible for the boy to awaken an ice attribute.

Sam had wild black hair that scattered allover his head in every possible direction. His shirt was not tucked in, collar up and sleeves rolled up. He had black eyes, fair Africa skin and a certain daredevil charm to him

From his appearance, Glen had three word to describe him. Rough, Wild, Loud.

The introductions continued.

"Hi, I'm Emily Carter and I'm fifteen. I hope to awaken a magic attribute "

"Hello, my name is Miles and I'm going to be a duel awakener of magic and fire!"

The whole class turned to Glenn who was sited at the end of the class.

Glenn closed his book and slowly stood. He knew this moment would determined if he makes friends in the class or if he would end up being the weirdo. However, he couldn't bring himself to care enough about what they thought of him.

"Hello, I'm Glenn and I'm fifteen. I hope we get along well and all awaken the attributes we want"

Glenn didn't give away his last name nor did he have any specific attribute he wanted to awaken.

He however kept a light smile on his face as he spoke, voice unrushed and steady.

For unknown reasons, the other students began clapping, startling Glenn who managed to cover up his shock. He didn't know why they were suddenly clapping.

"Bro, let's get along well" Sam said and after that the others were saying similar things.

The classroom door opened and a woman walked in.

"Okay, since the introductions are over, back to your seats everyone" she said walking straight to the long desk in front and dropped all she was holding on it.

"We'll start with the attendance. Glenn, come to the front at take the attendance while I prepare for the lesson." the woman said with a calm and patient voice.

Glenn blanked out for a second before making his way to the front. 'Why did the teacher call me?'

Glenn looked at the attendance book on the table and picked it up. He opened the first page and looked at all the names.

Since the students had just introduced themselves, he didn't have to call out names again.

He simply ticked everyone present and turned to the teacher who was writing something on the board.

"Ma, everyone is present" he said

The teacher nodded.

"Okay. Keep the attendance book with you. Everyone morning, by 7:30, take record of everyone present IN the class and add 5 points to the space for points in front of their name. At the end of the term, I shall collect the book." she turned to him and the rest of the class "From today on, Glenn will be the class representative. If you are not okay with this, please raise up your hands"

No one, to Glenn's dismay, raised their hand and the woman sent him back to his seat with the register.

"My name is Lauren Hills and you may all call be Miss Lauren. I'll be your class teacher for the year."
