The competition was already halfway through. Apart from Erza, four contestants had already completed their measurements. Currently, Millianna was in first place, and she couldn't help but feel ecstatic at her impressive score.
However, the upcoming mages were not to be taken lightly: Orga from the strongest guild, Sabertooth, Jura, one of the Ten Wizard Saints, and Zancrow (Mystogan), who was even stronger than Jura.
Once they stepped up, Millianna's first place would likely drop to fourth. It was a certainty.
Above them all, of course, was Erza, undoubtedly the top contender in this event.
Orga stepped up with a commanding presence, black lightning crackling in his palm. He fired a pitch-black lightning ball at the MPF, scoring an astonishing 3825.
This incredible score shattered people's previous perceptions. Just earlier, Rahal had said 365 was squad leader level. What about Orga's score then? It was over ten times Millianna's!
"This guy isn't bad. In terms of power, he might be able to compete with Laxus," Calvin commented casually, startling Gray and Natsu.
"Don't be ridiculous! This guy can compete with Laxus?!" Natsu was the first to disagree.
"I meant in terms of raw power. That guy doesn't have Laxus's lightning speed. In a fight, he'd still lose," Calvin clarified, calming Natsu and Gray.
With a score beyond imagination, Orga felt proud and began to sing below. However, Calvin thought Gajeel's singing was much better.
"I sing way better than him, shameless guy," Gajeel scoffed. Juvia thought to herself, "Neither Mirajane nor Gray's singing is better."
"You're no better, don't sing at the next celebration. Leave that to Mirajane," Laxus remarked, echoing Juvia's thoughts. Mirajane just smiled and didn't join the conversation.
She was content to let others praise her.
Next up was Jura, drawing everyone's attention. Despite losing to Zancrow on the first day, his reputation remained intact. Many believed his loss was a fluke and that Mystogan's tricks wouldn't work again.
"A strong one is coming, watch carefully," Calvin said with a smile, leaning forward. Despite believing himself to be stronger than Jura, he was curious about Jura's potential score.
"Earthly Rage!"
Like a volcanic eruption, an immense wave of energy surged from the ground, striking the MPF. This move, used in his fight against Zancrow, was more focused and powerful today.
Everyone was stunned, even ordinary citizens could feel the destructive power. The difference between the attack on the first day and today's was immense.
The sky even cleared from the impact.
"Wow, this is a wide-range attack used as a single-target spell. Truly deserving of the Ten Wizard Saints title!" Calvin exclaimed.
"What? Though the range is smaller than before, this is a wide-range attack," Lucy thought, feeling out of her depth.
Even her strongest spell, Urano Metria, wouldn't have half this power.
8544!
Jura's score reached 8544, setting a new record. Even the proud Orga broke into a cold sweat.
He knew he could never achieve such a score. Compared to Jura, his earlier performance seemed like a warm-up act.
"Does he need to go that far? Calvin, are you sure your summon can surpass that score?" Natsu asked anxiously. Despite wanting to mock Calvin, he didn't want his guildmate to lose.
"It's not exaggerated at all. A Ten Wizard Saint fighting at full power is a world-shattering force. Zancrow's victory on the first day was luck. In terms of attack power, it can only score around six thousand," Calvin stated calmly, driving Natsu and Gray crazy.
"Then we're doomed!"
"Not necessarily. I can cast spells through my summon. I don't think I'm any worse than Jura," Calvin said, flashing a confident smile that reassured everyone.
Confident words calmed Natsu and the others. They knew Calvin never exaggerated. They just needed to watch him perform.
"Honestly, I should thank Erza. Casting spells through a summon takes time and can't be used in combat. But now, it's perfect."
With that, Calvin closed his eyes, channeling his soul and magic into Zancrow through a mysterious link. Zancrow then stepped in front of the MPF.
"Are you ready? You're the last one. I hope you do well," the Pumpkin Host said, trying to stay calm.
Zancrow nodded slightly, closing his eyes to prepare his spell.
He remained still for nearly half a minute, causing some impatience among the audience. Just then, the sky darkened.
The clouds Jura had dispersed began to gather above the arena, denser and heavier than before.
It looked like a thunderstorm.
"Is it going to rain? It looks like a storm is coming," someone remarked. The next moment, a deafening thunderclap echoed, and the dark clouds flashed with lightning.
"Calvin always brings surprises," Laxus muttered, sensing the immense magic in the clouds. Even he, a Lightning Dragon Slayer, couldn't wield such powerful lightning. Nor could Orga, a God Slayer.
Orga's face darkened, feeling the same.
Not everyone realized this was Zancrow's magic. The Pumpkin Host didn't, asking, "Mystogan, are you ready?"
"Step back, don't interrupt him. The attack is coming," Jura warned, pulling the Pumpkin Host aside, looking serious.
A louder thunderclap shook the arena. The audience looked up, witnessing an unforgettable sight.
"Magic of the Fifth: Kirin."
A kirin made entirely of lightning emerged from the clouds, descending in an instant to strike the MPF. The audience was blinded by the flash and deafened by the roar.
The image of the lightning kirin was etched in their minds. Even with their eyes closed, they could still see it.
Few heard the MPF's beeping as it displayed the score. Everyone was still mesmerized by the sight.
They had seen a lightning strike! A kirin of lightning descended from the heavens!
Could this be achieved by human power?
9776! This outrageous score surpassed Jura's. It took the audience and mages a while to process it. Their first reaction was disbelief, followed by amazement.
This guy summoned lightning? And in such a spectacular form!
"This isn't just lightning magic; it's weather control. Though it wouldn't work on me, it's unavoidable," Laxus said, looking at Calvin. He felt an urge to devour the lightning kirin, believing it would greatly enhance his power.
