Chapter 237 - Calvin vs. Jura (Third Update)

Even though Jura had only used a simple spell, it was already clear why he was called the 'Iron Rock.' His impenetrable defense was indeed formidable, and hitting him wasn't easy.

Thus, Calvin stopped probing and began to manipulate Zanpakutō to unleash its true power.

Zanpakutō raised its hand, and a sharp katana flashed into existence, gripped firmly in its hand.

"Oh, are you finally going to use your real skills? I look forward to it!" Jura muttered softly, a faint smile appearing on his broad face. He seemed unguarded, but in reality, he was ready for anything.

With its face obscured by a black cloth, Zanpakutō's expression was unreadable, but its cold eyes fixated on Jura. In an instant, its figure vanished.

'Shunpo!'

Zanpakutō disappeared from Jura's sight like a flash step and reappeared behind him, wielding the blade to strike down.

Just as the blade was about to slash down on Jura's back, a massive rock fist shot up from the ground, aimed at Zanpakutō with tremendous force.

At the same time, a faint yellow glow appeared behind Jura, giving off a sense of solid hardness. Calvin immediately knew that even if Zanpakutō's strike landed, it wouldn't cause much harm to Jura. On the contrary, Zanpakutō might be destroyed by the terrifying fist.

Naturally, he wouldn't continue such a reckless move. Another sharp blade appeared in Zanpakutō's hand, which it used to slash at the rock fist.

This newly appeared blade wasn't an ordinary katana; it had a wide blade with serrated edges, displaying a fearsome appearance.

As Zanpakutō swung the blade, it extended like a whip, wrapping around the rock fist.

With a swift pull, Zanpakutō gracefully evaded the rock fist.

But it wasn't over. Jura easily controlled the rock fist, making it move like a serpent, defying the typical sluggishness of earth magic. It was hard to believe that this fist was made of rock.

Facing the relentless rock fist, Zanpakutō's eyes flashed with a fierce light as it raised the menacing long blade.

'Bankai: Hihiō Zabimaru!'

In an instant, the menacing long blade seemed to evolve, transforming into the skeletal form of a large snake. The snake's spine was lined with bony spikes, and a mane of red fur surrounded its neck. It lunged at the rock fist, ready to bite.

Why did Calvin name this summon beast Zanpakutō despite it having Aizen's appearance? It was because Zanpakutō could use these strange blades known as Zanpakutō.

Initially, Calvin didn't plan to create Zanpakutō. He first created summoning cards for Zanpakutō, only to realize that he didn't need weapons as a mage who commanded summon beasts.

But since he had already created these Zanpakutō, it would be a waste not to use them. Thus, he created the summon beast Zanpakutō, based on Aizen, to fully utilize these weapons.

Of course, these Zanpakutō didn't possess the same overwhelming power as in the manga. They were merely simulations created by Calvin's magic knowledge, powerful but limited.

Hihiō Zabimaru quickly wrapped around the rock's fist, its bone spikes shredding the rock into pieces. Then, it lunged at Jura, maw wide open to bite.

Calvin's version of Hihiō Zabimaru differed from the original manga; it had no handle and could move freely, like a battle pet aiding Zanpakutō in combat. It was highly flexible.

Facing the ferocious Hihiō Zabimaru, Jura showed no fear. He continuously cast spells, causing sturdy, round rock pillars to erupt from the ground. They moved like living snakes, whistling towards Hihiō Zabimaru and Zanpakutō.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The rock pillars clashing echoed repeatedly as the fierce battle between the pillars and Hihiō Zabimaru intensified. Jura appeared like a crazed artist, frantically constructing his rock pillar masterpieces on the ground, while Hihiō Zabimaru was a complete destroyer, intent on demolishing every pillar.

"What an impressive snake skeleton, destroying my rocks so effortlessly," Jura thought to himself, secretly admiring Zanpakutō's prowess. His fighting spirit rose, and so did his attacks.

Similarly, Zanpakutō was now going all out.

While evading, Zanpakutō's free hand produced another blade, this one completely black with a cross-shaped guard, known as 'Tensa Zangetsu'!

Since Zanpakutō was named after its weapons, its abilities naturally lay in these blades. Its greatest feature was its ability to wield multiple Zanpakutō simultaneously.

'Getsuga Tenshō!'

Holding Tensa Zangetsu, Zanpakutō slashed, sending out a massive, black, crescent-shaped energy wave. It moved swiftly, splitting every rock pillar it encountered. Even Jura didn't dare underestimate this fierce attack.

"Rock Iron Wall!"

With a raise of his hand, Jura summoned a thick wall from the ground. Its unique shape provided exceptional defense, absorbing the impact of the black crescent but remaining unscathed.

Jura lived up to his name as the Iron Rock.

In Zanpakutō's other hand was the original katana, also a Zanpakutō.

'Daiguren Hyōrinmaru!'

The temperature dropped suddenly, and even the breath exhaled formed a faint frost. Wide ice wings appeared on Zanpakutō's back, and the hand holding the blade transformed into an icy dragon claw.

Zanpakutō swung both blades simultaneously, launching a black crescent wave and an icy dragon towards Jura. Meanwhile, behind Jura, Hihiō Zabimaru opened its maw, firing a pale red laser.

'Getsuga Tenshō! 'Ice Dragon Tail'! 'Hikotsu Taihō'!

Three ultimate moves were unleashed simultaneously. Such an assault would obliterate any average mage.

However, the person facing this onslaught was Jura.

He brought his hands together, and magic surged as the ground rumbled.

"Rock Mountain!"

With a shout, a half-body giant statue armored in thick rock rose from the ground. Its massive arms protected Jura against the black crescent and icy dragon, while its sturdy back shielded him from the laser.

Boom!

The explosion roared violently, sending shockwaves and shattered ice flying in all directions, while the dust cloud enveloped everything, obscuring the view.

Everyone was simultaneously awestruck by the terrifying battle.

All this offense and defense took place in under a minute, but that minute had already left countless people feeling utterly overwhelmed.

"Incredible... Both of them are monsters!"

"You've got to be kidding me. Jura, sure, but this Mystogan is also this strong?"

Among the spectators, Lyon couldn't help but swallow hard. Watching this impressive spectacle, he was at a loss for words.

After joining Lamia Scale, Jura replaced his former mentor, Ur, in his mind. He deeply believed Jura was the strongest mage in Fiore, but the scene before him made him question his values.
