Chapter 222 - Interrupted Date

Seizing the moment before anyone else could react, Calvin took Mira's hand and quietly slipped away.

After walking a few steps, Mira seemed to realise what was happening and smiled sweetly. "This isn't like you, getting so worked up."

Calvin rolled his eyes and shook his head. "I was just annoyed by their arrogance. And I wasn't exaggerating; it's the truth, isn't it?"

Mira smiled contentedly and nestled closer to Calvin, looking blissful.

The two continued to explore the capital, occasionally stopping to admire famous landmarks and having a wonderful time.

However, it seemed that fate wasn't kind to Calvin. They hadn't walked for half an hour when another incident occurred.

Suddenly, Calvin stopped, his expression turning grave and frightening. Anger brewed within him, ready to explode at any moment.

Mira immediately noticed Calvin's change in demeanour and asked, "What's wrong?"

"Something's come up. We can't continue our stroll," Calvin said seriously. Seeing his expression, Mira understood it was something serious and became worried.

Without caring for the onlookers, Calvin summoned a giant wolf and gently helped Mira onto its back, and they sped off in a specific direction.

The sight of a giant wolf did startle some passersby, but the city was filled with wizards because tomorrow was the annual Grand Magic Games. Calvin and Mira's actions didn't cause too much alarm; people were more curious than frightened, quickly moving on after a few comments about the wolf's majesty.

Riding the giant wolf, Calvin and Mira moved swiftly. This wolf was Calvin's first summon, the "Silver Wolf Under the Moon," now much stronger and faster and renamed the "Battle Wolf."

"Calvin, what happened?" Mira asked, holding onto Calvin's waist, her voice tinged with concern.

"The Battle Wolf's speed was impressive, but it was stable enough that Mira didn't need to worry about maintaining balance. After a while, she couldn't help but ask.

"My magic sense covers the entire Crocus. Just now, I noticed Wendy's magic disappeared," Calvin said calmly, but his tone carried deep anger.

Someone attacking a member of Fairy Tail in the capital was a blatant provocation. Wendy's condition was unknown.

To Calvin, not sensing someone's magic meant it was either hidden or gone. One possible reason for magic disappearing was death.

With the Battle Wolf's speed, they quickly reached their destination: Mercurius Palace, where Calvin had last sensed Wendy's magic.

Upon arrival, Calvin and Mira spotted a handbag by the roadside. Calvin recognised it as Wendy's.

They searched the area and found Wendy and Charle unconscious in the bushes. Neither appeared to be in mortal danger, just unconscious.

Calvin gently picked up Wendy, and Mira did the same with Charle. After checking them over, Calvin sighed in relief but still frowned.

"It looks like their magic was drained, similar to what happened to the Master during the Phantom Lord incident," Calvin told Mira. "Let's take them to see the Master."

They brought Wendy and Charle to Makarov, who quickly had Porlyusica examine them. She diagnosed it as severe magic depletion due to sudden, massive magic loss, stating they just needed rest to recover.

Hearing this, everyone breathed a sigh of relief. Calvin asked Makarov, "Master, who do you think did this? Could it be Aria from Phantom Lord?"

"It doesn't seem like it. Although Wendy's condition is similar to mine back then, this isn't Aria's magic. Could it be another guild trying to weaken us? But Wendy isn't an official participant, only a reserve," Makarov mused, puzzled.

"Wendy can use healing magic. I think that's why she was targeted. The attacker didn't kill her, so it's likely not a dark guild but another team in the Games," Calvin analysed.

"You're probably right. We'll protect Wendy from now on," Makarov said solemnly. "Calvin, don't hold back in the Games."

Calvin smiled confidently. "I wasn't planning to hold back. And if another team did this, they'll slip up, and I'll make sure they regret it."

With that, Calvin and Mira left together.

After such an incident, neither felt like continuing their stroll. Calvin took Mira back to Team B's inn.

Laxus and Gajeel were nowhere to be seen, leaving only the brown-haired, white-clad summon standing proudly, unchanged from when they left.

"I almost forgot about you. I need to disguise you," Calvin chuckled, producing a black outfit from his waist.

The summon took the clothes and quickly donned them. In a minute, a faux Mystogan stood before them.

"So this is what Mystogan looks like? First time seeing it. Quite odd," Mira commented, amused but also critical.

"Yeah, his taste is questionable. But something's still missing," Calvin replied absentmindedly, scrutinising the disguised summon.

"Right! He needs those five weird staffs on his back!" Calvin exclaimed, finally remembering. Using his summoner's ability, he materialised five staff on the summon's back.

"Now it's perfect!" Calvin nodded in satisfaction.

"So this is what Mystogan used to look like? It screams 'suspicious'..." Mira said, finding it hard to smile at the absurdity.

"Bear with it. There will be stranger characters tomorrow. This outfit won't stand out too much," Calvin reassured her with a gentle smile.
