Chapter 179 - prisoner

"Although the records are incomplete, the fact they remain to this day indicates that the disaster back then was certainly not insignificant." Jellal said with a serious expression, exchanging glances once again with Ultear and the others, a mysterious look hidden within his eyes.

Macao touched his beard, his face void of expression, maintaining a neutral demeanor.

After a while, he slowly spoke, "Jellal, with so much information at hand, why not report it to the Council? Even anonymously, the Council won't turn a blind eye to this."

"There are many capable guilds now. With the Council's organization, forming a suppression team would be simple, just like when the Six Generals were suppressed."

"Your current attitude seems quite attached to our Fairy Tail. Could you tell me why?"

As Macao spoke, his expression turned serious and demanding.

Jellal sighed softly, his voice somewhat somber as he answered Macao's inquiry.

"Even if you hadn't asked, Lord Macao, I would have told you everything."

With that, Ultear pulled out a crystal ball from somewhere, causing it to float in front of Macao. Instantly, the crystal ball displayed various scenes.

"This is what I saw when I infiltrated the Sins of the Seven's headquarters. Please observe carefully. Once you finish watching, you'll understand." Jellal explained.

Macao, filled with curiosity, focused on the crystal ball, carefully observing each scene.

Soon, his face began to grow heavy, then turned grim, and finally into a mix of anger and disbelief.

"How is this possible!" Macao suddenly exclaimed with fury as he saw a certain scene, his eyes widened as he roared.

Jellal and the others also showed signs of disbelief despite having witnessed it firsthand.

So, what exactly did they see in those scenes?

Initially, the crystal ball displayed the foot of a mountain. As the perspective shifted upwards, it rapidly moved past the mountain's peak and arrived at the summit.

At the summit stood a shadowy castle, entirely dark purple in hue, constructed from some strange mineral, emanating an eerie feeling just by its appearance.

After a brief pause, the perspective covertly entered the castle from a corner, displaying remarkable daring and courage.

Inside the castle, dim candlelight barely illuminated the walls, offering unclear visibility. The perspective owner cautiously evaded numerous patrols, sneaking into a hidden chamber.

In the secret chamber, a few figures were conversing, more accurately, they were arguing.

And it was from this point that Macao's expression turned grim.

The reason lay in the familiarity of these two figures' appearances.

"The Black Mage" and the "Celestial Knight."

The powerful summons Calvin often used.

They were virtually identical in appearance to their former selves but exhibited a liveliness they never had before.

The perspective continued to shift, revealing more familiar figures to Macao.

A knight riding a steed, clad in purple-black armor; a swordsman wearing a mask, wielding a longsword, and donning purple-blue armor; and an immensely massive, ferocious black dragon.

Their expressions varied, but without a doubt, they were all Calvin's summons.

However, Calvin was already dead, and the Card of Summons could only be utilized by him. So, who was using these cards?

The final perspective of the crystal ball clearly entered a more concealed room, utterly dark with no trace of light.

But as the owner of the perspective activated a source of light, the only object in the room finally came into view.

A plain, sturdy, gigantic stone chair, where a familiar figure sat, identical in appearance and physique to the supposedly deceased Calvin.

However, the sleeping Calvin wasn't a corpse; though not obvious, Macao indeed noticed the steady rise and fall of his chest—a sign of breathing.

"Jellal! What's going on? Why is Calvin in this guild!?" Macao was on the verge of losing his composure. His most regrettable disciple was deeply entrenched in the Dark Guild, an enormous insult to Calvin.

"Please stay calm for what I'm about to tell you, as even I am immensely shocked by this," Jellal remarked, not surprised by Macao's extreme reaction, but simply reminding him in a serious tone.

After a pause, Jellal slowly continued, "When I infiltrated the Sins of the Seven, you've seen what I've seen. Now, let me inform you of what I heard."

"As you've just witnessed, Calvin's summons seem to have developed their own consciousness, and I've even heard them arguing."

"Forgive me for not being able to provide more details, but these summoned creatures represent the Seven Sins within the Sins of the Seven. They were the masterminds behind the sweeping of numerous Dark Guilds."

"However, among these seven, there's no guild master. Only one of the Seven Sins acts as a vice-president managing the guild, and the rest of the Seven Sins don't seem to fully submit to them. That vice-president is the Black Mage you saw just now."

"From their conversations, I'm certain that the Sins of the Seven have their own guild master. Although I don't have concrete evidence, I presume that this mysterious guild master is likely Calvin."

Hearing this, Macao glared at Jellal and exclaimed harshly, "Impossible! Calvin wouldn't do something like this!"

Jellal nodded in agreement, and with utmost seriousness, said, "I agree. That's why I continued my investigation afterward."

"The Calvin in that last room is the most valuable information from my investigation!"

"At that time, just looking wasn't enough to understand everything. Nobody understands better than I do about what happened there."

"Calvin lying on that stone chair wasn't merely unconscious. I vividly felt it then—he had no trace of magic within him."

"No, let me rephrase that—any magic produced by Calvin's body had been completely stripped away."

Upon hearing this, Macao calmed down slightly and interjected, "It's like when I was attacked by specters initially, all my magic was drained. Before my magic returned, I couldn't wake up."

"And those who took away that magic were his seven summons! Am I right?"

Ultear added, "Moreover, I'm afraid Calvin's soul might have been sealed. Don't forget, his personality was once sealed away!"
