Chapter 228 - The Watcher: Finally, I Can Leave

As the Lord of Hell, Mephisto loved to manipulate and deceive, but it was rare for him to beg.

However, he would beg if necessary when facing an insurmountable threat or potential significant loss.

Now, with Wang Yan threatening to destroy his Hell, Mephisto had to beg.

He didn't believe Wang Yan was incapable of such destruction. Even partial damage would severely wound him.

Wanda and Vision were astonished to see Wang Yan quickly subdue Mephisto and force him to beg.

This was Mephisto, the Lord of Hell.

Mephisto had been bargaining with Wang Yan earlier, but now he could only beg.

And if Mephisto were truly subdued, the benefits would be immense.

The wealth Mephisto had accumulated over the years was enough to drive anyone mad.

Not just wealth but countless treasures.

Even Kamar-Taj couldn't compare.

But Wang Yan ignored Mephisto's pleas.

Enslaving the Lord of Hell was like holding a ticking bomb. The potential fallout was far too significant.

Mephisto was far more cunning and deceitful than Thanos, a schemes master.

If Mephisto wanted to target someone, he would use countless methods to make their life unbearable.

The reason Wang Yan had managed to handle him so quickly was due to a fortunate encounter and Mephisto's underestimation of them, even leaving the Darkhold behind. Otherwise, Mephisto would have already escaped.

Although he had subdued Mephisto, Wang Yan wasn't about to let him go based on his words.

That would be asking for trouble.

Unleashing powerful magic, the scarlet chains binding Mephisto tightened sharply.

Mephisto let out a piercing scream.

The sound was horrifying.

Everyone present felt a chill upon hearing it.

Mephisto's form began to change, turning fiery red with more pronounced and twisted horns.

His appearance became even more terrifying, revealing his proper form.

Wang Yan looked at Mephisto and said, "So this is your true form!"

He then thrust the Vishanti's Holy Sword into Mephisto.

The immense power of the Infinity Stones surged through Mephisto into Hell, initiating its destruction.

A terrifying rumble echoed.

Hell began to collapse.

Mephisto seemed to endure immense pain.

"No, I can't die!"

Mephisto felt Hell's collapse.

A sudden surge of power erupted from him, spreading terrifying force in all directions.

Cracks appeared all over Mephisto's body.

With a loud boom, a powerful shockwave burst, scattering energy everywhere.

Wang Yan used the Ring of Raggadorr to shield himself from the blast, quickly retreating.

When the force subsided, Wang Yan looked towards Mephisto's direction, but he was gone. It seemed the explosion had utterly destroyed him.

The rift in the sky leading to Hell also rapidly disappeared.

"Did he just leave? Even abandoning the Darkhold?"

Wang Yan frowned, feeling a bit helpless. He had hoped to trap Mephisto's body, but Mephisto's explosion had broken his seal and scarlet chains, allowing his soul to return to Hell.

Even so, Mephisto had paid a significant price.

With the remnants of Wang Yan's magic, Mephisto would suffer greatly, even if he survived.

Still, Wang Yan regretted not killing Mephisto.

Mephisto was a vengeful enemy whose schemes could even trouble the Five Great Beings.

Wang Yan didn't want such a dangerous foe at large.

But for now, Mephisto wouldn't be in good shape so that he could deal with him later.

He then looked up at the sky.

At that moment, Wang Yan's magic dissipated, and the mirror dimension closed. The world returned to its original form, with Westview reappearing.

The Seraphim's Shield remained, and Wanda and Vision breathed a sigh of relief, thinking Westview had indeed vanished.

Even Agatha, who they had captured earlier, was still there.

However, Wang Yan sensed a familiar presence in the void above, someone he felt he had met before.

But since this presence had been observed for so long, he didn't consider them friends.

"You've watched long enough. Isn't it time to show yourself?"

"If you don't, I'll have to make you!"

Wang Yan waved his hand, the purple sword glowing, his silver cloak emitting magical light, pointing at the sky.

The Watcher sensed Wang Yan's presence.

Could this kid sense them?

But...

The Watcher looked incredulously at Eternity.

Wasn't this kid afraid of angering Eternity?

How could he dare speak to Eternity like that?

But he wouldn't reveal himself now.

"This kid has quite a temper. We've met once before!"

"If you dare to act, you will regret it!"

Eternity said with a wry smile, stepping forward.

Hearing this voice, Wang Yan frowned. It sounded familiar.

But he couldn't place it immediately.

A moment later, a figure appeared before him.

Seeing him, Wang Yan immediately recognized him.

"Eternity? What are you doing here?"

Wang Yan looked curiously at Eternity, thinking some powerful being had been lurking.

Eternity's mood was complex. Initially, he could handle this title, but now, seeing Wang Yan's strength, he had a new understanding.

He wasn't sure he could quickly subdue Wang Yan now.

Seeing Eternity's lack of response and complex expression, Wang Yan was puzzled.

Eternity coughed and said, "I came to find the Ancient One. She said she was going to explore the multiverse, and I'm here to accompany her."

"But I sensed a battle here on Earth and came to see."

In reality, Eternity had explicitly come to observe Wang Yan, but he couldn't admit that.

Could he say he watched Wang Yan's battle with Annihilus?

That would imply he saw Wang Yan as an equal.

So he made up an excuse.

"I see!"

Hearing this, Wang Yan didn't think much of it.

"But I don't know where the Ancient One is now. You'll have to find her yourself."

Since confirming Wang Yan's immense power, the Ancient One had entrusted Earth's protection to him, allowing her to explore beyond unless something significant happened.

"Is that so?"

Eternity nodded, not minding since he wasn't looking for the Ancient One.

He just needed a diversion.

"I'll find her later. Where are you headed now?"

Eternity asked curiously, knowing Wang Yan's battle with Mephisto wasn't over.

Wang Yan saw no reason to hide his plans.

"I'm going after Mephisto!"

Mephisto had to die; otherwise, Wang Yan wouldn't feel secure.

Better safe than sorry.

"Oh? Can I join you?"

Eternity wanted to see more of Wang Yan's abilities and wouldn't miss the chance.

Wang Yan was taken aback.

Did one of the Five Great Beings enjoy watching fights?

What's so interesting about their skirmishes?

But he couldn't refuse.

With Eternity's help, he could handle any surprises.

And building a good relationship with Eternity, who might be traveling with the Ancient One, couldn't hurt.

"If you're interested, I won't refuse."

Wang Yan agreed.

"Great, let's go!"

Eternity seemed excited.

Wang Yan noticed Eternity's enthusiasm and wondered why he seemed more excited than him.

But he shrugged it off, thinking he couldn't understand the Great Beings' ways.

He then tore a rift into the dimensional space.

Wang Yan couldn't directly access Hell's dimension but could search through other dimensions.

With his current power, finding Hell wouldn't be difficult.

He stepped through the rift.

Eternity didn't help find Hell, following Wang Yan to see what he'd do.

In the void above, the Watcher, seeing them leave, finally sighed in relief. He had wanted to go long ago.

But with Eternity around, he hadn't dared move.

Now that they were gone, the Watcher quickly departed, vanishing into the universe...
